I have forgotten to tell literally anyone or posted anywhere but Thorn has started Mimicry and is doing pretty well. It seems especially to help his confidence with surfaces.

He is learning through the puppy mimicry approach I’ve seen others use. Much less reliant on knowing existing obedience cues to even start learning. More organic.

no recordings yet as i did it on a lark when playing around but both dogs can mimic their front limbs! but...differently.

with thyme if I wave my right arm he will mirror me back - waving his left arm in a reflection of myself. makes sense, this is prob how i would copy someone i was facing if they said “copy me!”

this same demo with thistle, wave my right arm - she waves her right arm back.

not sure yet if just happenstance, luck, a leg preference or more of the functional replication variations creeping through where thistle is just that more literal than thyme is
