Song of the day
Doggerbank by The Longest Johns
Album: Prospect - Pieces of Eight (2025)
The addition of this song to my playlist isn't exactly deep: It's a fun song. It's a fun band. I like shanties and I like these guys' voices. And also the sudden shift from "talking about a boat" to "talking mildly suggestively about a woman" isn't exactly original or deep either but ... I do also like mild suggestiveness.
Favourite lyrics:
So it's watch her, twig her It's down the street she came With high heels and painted toes Good Jinnie is on the game She is one of them flash girls Can't she cut a shine? She can do a double shuffle On the Knickerbocker Line

SMS Seydlitz. She took part in both the Battle of Dogger Bank and Battle of Jutland. She suffered severe damage in both engagements. A near magazine explosion at Dogger Bank and she was hit twenty one times by large caliber rounds and a torpedo at Jutland. But at Jutland she and Derfflinger destroyed the battlecruiser HMS Queen Mary. She ended life interned, then scuttled at Scapa Flow.
Having a short break from #randomrecordreview so here instead is a fairly random selection of new, old and new-old records I’ve bought in 2020. This LP by the pan-European group Fatdog is inspired by the land bridge, now submerged under the North Sea, that forever connects the British Isles to the continent of Europe. 🇪🇺🇬🇧 #randomrecordreviewoftheyear #fatdog #newfoundland #doggerbank #nowlistening #nowplaying #recordcollection #iameuropean https://www.instagram.com/p/CJf15FSshoL/?igshid=13h6fk2gbtiip

The Flag Of Dogeland, a sovereign island nation in the North Sea. Its coastline exactly follows the rough geographical outline of the real world underwater feature known as Dogger Bank, which is all that is left of the ancient land of Doggerland, which connected the British Isles to Mainland Europe before the last Ice Age. https://www.deviantart.com/okb-h/art/Kingdom-Of-Dogeland-Flag-861331252 Visit this page for a detailed history on Dogeland, its people, history, government, military and industries. Plus, learn of the surprising tale of how a Scottish Nun came to convert a Viking warband to Christianity, then go on to become the Island’s patron Saint. #dogeland #fictionalcountry #fictionalhistory #worldbuilding #doggerbank #fictionalflags #nordiccross #celticcross #staliceofdogeland https://www.instagram.com/p/CHrpKTZneUg/?igshid=53pmqdy8xh78
