Just Know You're Not Alone || Connie & Daryl
Starter for @doginthecorner
Life at Alexandria was... different. Not better or worse than life at Hilltop —Connie didn't want to compare the two communities, specially not after what happened to Hilltop—, but there was no denying it, Alexandria was way different.
After what happened at the cave, and when she was finally allowed out of the infirmary, her family barely left her alone. Connie had to promise to not go out of the community alone for Magna and Kelly to give her some alone time, which she used to walk around Alexandria, seeing everything she wasn't able to see during their first time there.
She walked around, watching people as they did their own thing, smiling and waving at those she recognized from back at Hilltop, until she spotted Daryl with the kids.
To say that Daryl looked like he was at his limit would be sugarcoating it. He looked overwhelmed, and Connie couldn't blame him, kids were hard, and going from not having kids to being in charge of a teenager and two children below the age of 10, was far from a walk in the park.
Connie walked to them, touching Daryl's arm to get his attention. She smiled at him, but didn't show any pity, knowing better than to feel pity for Daryl because if she did, he'd start being stubborn about letting her help. Connie had to be smart and offer her help without directly telling him she was offering it.
"Just the person I wanted to see," she signed. "I have to babysit Adam today. If you guys aren't busy, maybe you could keep me company? I'm sure Adam would like having other kids around."
