New Year's Eve at @northcentralshelter was a success in the opinion of the three volunteers that were there last night... @bfischey @gregmasakivines and Myself. We began the evening updating our "dogventory" on the volunteer walking logs as a team. Double-checking which dogs were in which kennel, AND we also started doing laundry. By 11:30 PM fireworks increased and we had continued to calmly walk around, distracting any dogs that were stressed, successful in keeping the dogs that weren't sleeping or hiding in their cubbies calmly focused off of the sounds. NOTE: If you are not aware some animals panic or stress when then hear loud explosions or fireworks screeching. Only the worst of human behaviors would stress animals or anyone on purpose. We volunteers enjoyed a round of hot chocolate together, did 6 or 8 loads of wash, and our Volunteer Coordinator surprised us with brownies.
