1. Repeat an order several times This is the most common mistake among dog owners. I can guarantee that all dog owners are guilty without realizing it!
Let's say you're trying to make your dog feel like you're sitting down and not sitting down. So what are you doing?
Most dog owners will continue to "sit down" until the dog feels. Unknowingly, he could have told his dog to "sit down" three times before sitting down. However, you should only order your dog if you feel, stay, etc. It is absolutely crucial.
One of the biggest obstacles you need to overcome when training your dog is to develop a relationship where you understand that YOU are the leader of the group, not him, and that he has to listen to you. If he says "sit down" three times before your puppy finally sits down, he'll think he does not have to do what you ask him to do until he says it three times. Again, you want your dog to sit down (or listen to all the commands he says) after you send him once.
