How’d you feel about Role Model?
u mean the johnny toews fix-it fic?
okay obviously (and unfortunately) there are multiple men & ~dynamic duos in the nhl that could have inspired this but i did get the impression that rachel reid based the story off p*trick kane and toews in chicago, and had wondered what it would look like if toews was actually secretly a good guy and repudiated kane irl
of all the books in the series so far i think this was the biggest wish fulfillment fantasy, but as a wish fulfillment fantasy it was very sweet and i did enjoy it on that level
i also think rreid’s ottawa senators i mean centaurs team is based off of ted lasso’s little football team that could, but again, it’s sweet
i commend rreid for using the storylines in this series to address a lot of the grossness about the nhl, and this book is the most up front and blatant in that regard. my e-book edition did not come with content warnings but i do hope the print editions etc do, bc whew. you know she’s drawing from real life stuff here and it was a little hard to read at times
i do think the conclusion was a little too happily ever after all immediate conflict is fixed now yay, but, yeah, wish fulfillment there too
