“The right train of thought can take you
to a better station in life.
When the Doha Metro Red Line started its operation last May, many were excited. We went on a couple of joy ride on its first week with my colleague to experience the first train in Qatar. Then we finally went for the whole journey ride from Al Qassar Station to Al Wakra Station with our Flat7 family during the Eid Holiday. Even dropping by at the Corniche Station to check out the Umbrella Park.
A couple of my colleagues now takes the metro going to work every day as they also offer free shuttle service through their MetroExpress app that you can download on your smartphone. With the Gold Line starting to operate last Thursday, more routes have become easier to access through the Doha Metro.
I have been planning to visit the Qatar National Museum with Charlie ever since it opened but we just couldn’t find a perfect timing. When I found out that the National Museum Station is part of the Doha Metro Gold Line, it was not hard to plan out since both of us had a free schedule yesterday and we really wanted to spend some time together. Hitting a couple of aims with one train ride sure was an accomplished goal.
We decided to park the car near Al Aziziyah Station in Villagio Mall and started the journey there. I really didn’t expect many passengers since it was passed ten in the morning already. We purchased the Day Pass ticket which cost Qr6 each. The ticket allowed us to take an unlimited ride for the day not just on the Gold Line but including the Red Line. The interchanges for all the Metro Line is in Msheireb Station, although the Green Line is still set to operate with no date yet. After our visit to the museum we went back to Villagio Mall and grab a meal there before attending the mass that afternoon. Despite our recent setbacks, there are still many things to be thankful in life and our little trip yesterday was definitely one of them.
I’m so glad it didn’t take them long to open the second Metro Line. I’m pretty sure more and more will take the opportunity to ride the train especially during the weekend. I just hope they will be able to keep the cleanliness inside their coaches especially since their seats are not leather and it tends to catch more dirt and smell.
I’m really looking forward to the Doha Metro Green Line as it’s route includes the National Library and Education City Stations. Hopefully, it will operate early next year, then it will be easier to visit events at QNCC.
