It’d been an instinctual response, an old habit that wasn’t so easily snuffed, this unconscious evasion that’d been going on for coming on an hour now. It was no different than it had been before, how he’d always run with a palpable desperation with the hope of lasting just long enough to be in the clear. And just like every other time, it was much too close a call, soundly ensnared near moments after having reached the required sixty minutes.

“Haaaa .. Man ... Have I ever mentioned  —” He paused to wet the lips that were as dry as his throat, chest heaving with every panted breath that escaped from where he was pinned to the ground. “.. Have I ever mentioned just how damn grateful I was for that hour limit you put on yourself?”

{✘} » — He had always been known to be a particularly perceptive individual. It was all part of the trade, really. Both as an assassin and as an illusionist, the key was all in the skill to read others. Quickly and efficiently. That was the Varia’s way. And his time here had become no exception to that. This city was full of peculiar beings, human and inhuman alike, most relatively harmless, though there was the occasional person or two who caught his interest.

              The majority were those who had also come from his world. But who was to say there couldn’t be an exception? He had already seen on more than one occasion how looks might be deceiving.

               Fran clicks his tongue, arms folding back behind his head.

               “That’s quite the presence,” he remarks. “Your fashion choices might be questionable at best, but it isn’t everyday you encounter someone with such a large aura despite looking like they could snap in half at any given moment.”

“Can you stop smoking, it’s annoying...I think this is a no smoking area too you’re breaking the rules.” Dominic had an infinite amount of patience, however it was all used up by one person he cared about. The whole rest of the world he could take or leave. He barely remembered the faces of his parents, it was too much asking him to care about passing strangers. 

He narrowed his eyes for a moment at the stranger next to him smoking. Truthfully, he had seen plenty of adults smoke but never had tried it himself. Well, he was an adult. Thinking on that for a moment, Dominic’s pinched tight features relaxed. 

He held his gloved hand out to the other. “Well, if you’re not going to stop can you share one with me at least?” He had no care at all for others, but he could be pretty demanding. That was the kind of know it all brat that he was.

    ≪❀≫ CRIMSON EYES SHINE in confusion – stopping in his tracts as he sees the other in the midst of the chaos. He didn’t know this stranger, but also? He wasn’t sure he was entirely necessary here.

      The other had an… odd aura about them. Less of a defenseless civilian and more of a warrior of some sort. Though, to say he was 100% sure about that would be a lie. With his powers (WATERED DOWN) since his arrival here? He wasn’t sure about anything. So? With his instincts still unsure of whether he should approach or not… he did know that there were some of the GHOSTLY CREATURES coming down this way. At the very least, the half-human man needed to warn the stranger.

      “I’m uncertain how necessary my warning might be,” Merlin begins with a pleasant smile adorning his lips, lifting a single hand in an off-handed wave – while the other remained on his replacement weapon. “I saw several of the large ghost-like creatures heading this way.”
