You are not superior to the person who is nonverbal. You are not superior to the person who needs a carer. You are not superior to the person who wears diapers. You are not superior to the person who can't manage a job or an education. You are not superior to the person who is intellectually and/or cognitively disabled. You are not superior to the people in psych wards and group homes. You are not superior to the person in the wheelchair. You are not superior to the person on disability benefits. You are not inherently superior to any of these people just by virtue of being more capable in comparison. Leave your ableism at the door or don't enter

Love how ADHD, autism and schizophrenia objectively have the same amount of traits and experiences in common, but schizophrenics aren't welcome in the metaphorical club house because they're bad for the image the neurodivergency movement is currently trying to capitalize on and with "love" I mean fuck y'all

The disabled people who can't work at all aren't "lucky" that they don't have to, just like the disabled people who are forced by circumstances to work despite severe symptoms aren't "lucky" that they can... Instead of idealizing one of two equally challenging situations, what about a little solidarity and compassion?

People with personality disorders are not evil or subhuman. In most cases they are people who faced so much ongoing trauma and neglect during their upbringing that it damaged their development to the point of permanent disability. These are traumatized people who deserve compassion, support and resources, not further dehumanization. They are victims and survivors, not perpetrators

Like can we once and for all exchange the "actually x stereotype isn't true and people with y diagnosis actually DO have empathy, feelings, intelligence, abilities, skills, etc" activism with "lacking empathy, feelings, intelligence, skills, abilities, etc doesn't make anyone any less of a worthy person and our activism shouldn't be built on distancing ourselves from the people who genuinely, objectively lack these things to a significant degree" Like can we collectively make that shift happen cause we fucking should

I hate how people will hold you to higher standards as a disabled person than they would if you were abled. I mean literally no one will expect your average abled person to exercise every day and give up alcohol and only eat vegetables, but as soon as you got a chronic illness or a mental disorder suddenly everyone is holding you to health standards literally no one else is expected to actually meet - and if you don't do xyz, then they will insist that's why you're ill. Even though THEY aren't doing it either

Personality disorders are usually considered a response to a severely traumatic upbringing, so when people say "people with NPD/ASPD/BPD are inherently abusive by nature" what they're actually implying is "being a victim of abuse to the point of it permanently altering your brain will doom you to become an abuser yourself" and if you are comfortable implying that then I am kicking you and also biting

Like we gotta stop trying to move the stigma somewhere else and start challenging the stigma as a whole. So what if that person actually is intellectually disabled or unable to work or not capable of taking any education or not capable of empathy? Does that mean they deserve the stigma the rest of y'all are trying to run from? Or does it mean that we as a community need to start challenging the stigma on a real level instead of just throwing it around like a hot potato nobody wants to hold let alone deal with?
