dol sdv au quickly turns into the plot of a horror game (which if you look at the dol plot it basically is already)

move into a small farming community after getting the opportunity to move there for free on the condition that you restore the abandoned farm, but the town is kinda...

- tiny town with a weird church cult that runs things

- multiple the danger of the forest and caves by 10

- can't go fishing because even the ocean is trying to Get You

- there's a hermit that lives outside of the town that stalks you and probably casting spells on you but he isn't even the most bizarre person you met

and other stuff like

oh there are some other farms here too! Alex will surely lend a hand if you need it but anyone else cannot be trusted

im leaving this to my followers bc im not exactly sure what this means; like in general or in relation to their likes?

i feel like robin would probably be the most straight-laced of the bunch, like sydney is obviously straight-edge but i feel like he could be convinced to do some stuff/even initiate it once his corruption is high enough. robin seems the type to not even know what weed smells like

i do think kylars is fitting. not sure if hes on drugs but he is definitely the type to make them lol

as for whitney, i was thinking abt like, how drug creation would work in such a game and i do think that the player would be able to grow tobacco plants and thus be able to make cigarettes, and you could gift them to whitney for a lot of love

i think sydney would also like artifacts, or at least any book artifacts that there are.

and also there should be an option to give whitney a plushie of some sort <3

eden would love mushrooms, and have universal likes of most forgables, and i think fish would be in neutrals. i think he would be pretty easy to give gifts to.

i cant really think of a place for avery in a type of game like this (all my homies hate avery) unless there would eventually be a mechanic to go to the city? if it was something like that, maybe you could be soft locked out of going to the city if you miss too many dates in a row bc then when you go there you have to deal with averys wrath, etc

Apparently Sydney canonically has a huge sweet tooth, so that could also factor into their gifts

i forgot abt that!! i think that would be a good option also. i was thinking that maybe his likes could also be like, sea shells for example? bc of the beach dates...

im thinking abt what likes each character would have if they were npcs in sdv like their loved/like/neutral/dislike/hate items would be for example dislikes for sydney might be alcohol items (idk if its ever stated in the game but he seems the type) and i feel like kylar would like monster drops

YESS THIS IS GREAT!! weird guy who shows up occasionally to do stuff, or maybe its an unlockable area where you can access him and mickey and thats one option to access the "black market" so to speak of the town. maybe there is a town pub and you unlock a secret there maybe?

Bailey only likes the most valuable items and maybe a mystery item that’s different in each game so players can’t use a guide to figure it out. It’s implied that Eden gives the mystery item to Bailey.

yesss i like this a lot! giving bailey expensive things and him being like "... you better not think that this will substitute your rent payment." like a tsun

im not sure how well the rent mechanic would work in the game, it might need to be converted to something else? maybe bailey has connections in the town (with all the sketchy stuff going on, maybe he was raised there and moved later or smth) he could insist that you send x amount of payment each week that you make by working/restoring the farm and selling stuff... which would be interesting if there was a sabotage mechanic like in dol where your crops/farm animals can be killed so you are forced to resort to sketchy means to pay off your debt.

this could also be an interesting thing with robin, where you are paying more debt but you get an extra hand to help you around the farm, automating some tasks or doing stuff in the town!

if he is a sorta off screen character/maybe visits occasionally to check on you or collect rent, then maybe you need to level up your friendship with eden to learn more about him and thats how you unlock more info abt what he likes and his special item etc

Mason - Not sure if Mason would like fish. Definitely hates underwear as a gift. Daryl - Maybe the person who upgrades tools? Likes flowers and stews. River - Likes vegetables from your farm, uses them in the soup kitchen. (but peas are for feeding ducks.) Winter - See Carter from Harvest Moon DS except much older. Likes artifacts. Sirris - Shopkeeper. Likes foragibles.

we could stretch it and make mason a sort of fisherman, or maybe he's just another young person who recently moved to the town and trying to figure out what he's doing? there would definitely be a heart event where you catch him naked swimming lol

darryl, I think he could fit as a shop keeper if not a strip club owner, though I also think that sirris might fill that role better as a general store type of thing? I do like the idea of him being a blacksmith too though. along with flowers I think he'd ljke wine gifts too

100% with river, as you raise heart levels with them you also get different recipes for soup, bread etc

and winter being the museum/artifacts etc guy I also like a lot, I'd love for him to give tips and stuff about finding artifacts and ores to some extent too? likes artifacts gifts, I think he'd also like minerals too (stuff not necessarily expensive but rare)

and yeah sirris is a shopkeeper, it would be cool if by getting closer to him you would also learn more abt sydney and all of that

I love this ask, but now I'm thinking abt whether or not the teachers should be love interests in this hypothetical game too... sydney better get ready to call me stepdad bc I'd be diving into that sirrussy
