If it wasn’t obvious enough already, can I just say that I LOVE the Our Generation line?! I’ll admit, some of the clothing doesn’t have quite the same stylish charm of American Girl clothing, but the accessories? Flawless! 

This particular retro set caught my eye, even though I didn’t love how the food looked.  I have some good doll food already, so I really did buy this for accessories, and they did not disappoint! The napkin holder is adorable, the utensils are perfect, and you can actually tear pieces of the waitress’ pad off to write down orders. My favorite piece, however, is definitely the straw holder! It actually opens, and the straws come out. So cute!

Review of the Our Generation Retro Records Guitar:

First off, let me say that the longer I spent looking at this guitar, the more I loved it! I hadn’t noticed some of the cute details when I first looked at it.  The guitar overall is a pink, six-stringed guitar.  I am assuming that the guitar is made of plastic, and the strings are probably nylon. (You can try to strum the strings, which makes for an odd sound lol).

What I really liked, however, were the little details on it.  The guitar has six tuners at the top, which don’t move but do make it look realistic. When flipping the guitar over, I noticed that there were six little hearts next to the tuners, a kind of unnecessary but still really cute detail.  The back also has the Our Generation logo very faintly placed on the bottom of the guitar.

Another cool detail are the two nubs on the guitar.  One is on the base of the guitar, kind of above where the frets meet the base.  The other is on the bottom of the guitar.  These two nubs are there so that if you buy a guitar strap, the doll can actually hang the strap on her while playing the guitar!  Despite this, the set does not actually come with a strap, but as it shouldn’t be too difficult to make one, I’ll probably do that.

Now, I don’t know how durable this guitar will prove to be, or if any of the paint will wear off, but considering how much other stuff was in this set, I think I definitely got my money’s worth.  I hope this review was helpful, and I will be posting a picture of my doll with the guitar next for scale!

Went shopping at Target today and decided to treat my dolls to a ton of new stuff!!!

To the left is the Our Generation “Off to School” set, to the right is the 1950′s “Retro Records” set, the badminton set, and a small keychain that looks like the perfect size for a doll backpack!

I’m super happy that the Our Generation dolls are the same size as American Girl dolls, since it really is a bit easier to buy doll furniture/accessories when they’re at Target prices.  I’m also hyped to open all of this! I wonder what my dolls will like the most 😃

Here’s Elizabeth holding the guitar, though it is kind of awkward for her to hold the guitar. It’s a good size, but her hands can’t quite hold it in the correct way.

I bought the Our Generation Garden Party set at Target a few weeks ago, and I love it!

The food in it is adorable, and so are all the decorations.  I hung up the banner from the kit two or three weeks ago, and haven’t taken it down since. I just love how festive it looks!

I got that bundle of random 70s fabric dolls.

included was this body.

which is baffling me because it looks factory made, it's so neat and tidy and those sockets in the wrists for the arms to go into are so perfect.

it has a crier inside which no longer works and it's stuffed with Kapoc meaning it's probably 50s or early 60s. Going by the age of the other bits, i'm going to assume more likely 60s.

I'm wondering if it was perhaps a kit and that's why it has no hands or head. Kit dolls were pretty common back then, but usually they had porcelain legs as well. This one is unusual for having fabric legs and feet.

None of the dolls in this lot have any markings, and google lens hasn't been at all helpful. But with this one, it very much comes down to a "if you know you know" I think. I've been searching vintage kit dolls but nothing so far, perhaps that's an incorrect assumption but it makes the most sense to me because why would the doll not have hands? It doesn't look like it ever had hands, there's no glue residue or signs of stitching around the sockets.

I'm tempted to make it a paper mache head. Not sure how to attach it though. I'll have to get a better look at how these kits were put together.
