Doll-Eyed
At night when she is alone She looks at her reflection in the mirror And smiles when she sees The girl she has always seen before
The girl with skin so pale and thin You could feel her heart beating; Hear her lungs breathing; See her mind working
The girl with bones so big It takes up all of her Leaving no space for laughters No space for tears
She smiles when she looks at her She smiles with the eyes of a doll— Sparkling and shiny, And smooth, blank doll-eyes
She smiles a smile She has practiced so long So when they look at her It is a happy doll they see
