From Malawi to the U.K. and Nigeria...
BlakJak has collaborated with a lot of big local musicians like Gwamba, Piksy, Lucius Banda, Skeffa and Theo Thomson just to name a few. Now the Malawian Dancehall star has 2 new big collabos under his belt.
Fatsani Kalonda aka BlakJak recently featured on “N.S.O.S” with Malawi’s very own Hazelmak and Nigeria’s veteran rapper AY. “N.S.O.S” has a new school and old school vibe to it. “I wanted to create a song that’s out of the box and something that people would not expect and I thought people would not expect BlakJak and I on a track” says the “Liyaya” hitmaker who is currently based in the U.K. “I enjoyed making the track with him because you can always deliver he’s on the ball. He’s a creative genius!” She plans on shooting a video for the unreleased song when she returns to Malawi.
BlakJak also featured on “Eni Le Fit (They Cant Fit)” with U.K. based Rapper Dolabillz produced by Bayozmuzik. The track is part of the track list for the upcoming joint EP project with Yorkshire rapper Ad-1 called “Black n White”. “I heard of BlakJak through a friend called Hazelmak. He was featured on one of her tunes and I liked his flow, his swing in and out of his local dialect and the infusion of reggae with his rap. I knew I wanted him on a record.” Says the Nigerian Rapper, “We haven’t met yet and I value him as bro already that’s the serious attribute to his personality.”
“I wanted to widen my catchment area. As an artist you always need to try and reach a wider Audience. These two guys are going to give me that.” Says Blakjak. “Hazelmak is doing well in UK and Dolabillz is big in Nigeria and UK too! There's always a platform for everything in art so we can’t rule out the possible collabo for all of us” Concurrently the former Nyasa Guruz member is working on his second album and he plans on dropping the second single soon. Blakjak is also shooting some videos, the official video for Theo Thomson’s hit “Magic” that he is featured on should be out so soon!
