Farewell Albatross brought in the girl power of the night with Drea fronting the local collective, & Dollar Signs summoned forth the Ska in us all with fun tracks we all vibed to. It was a great line-up last night, bringing forth stories from each band about Battleship that we got to listen, and everyone was there thinking about the man. Alright, Queen City & beyond, as much as we'd like to give a bit more lift to others today, tonight the single entity that needs the most out our CLT Music Scene atm is none other than Jonathan "Battleship" Hughes, former owner of The Milestone & member of bands such as Sext Message & as of recent The Bitterhearts. ~~~~~~~~~~ As you'll read or may have heard, Jonathan suffered a major stroke recently, which has both shut down his ability to operate his left side, which in turn inhibits a lot of the activities he put in to support his family. If you've been in the seen a while, you've met him either at his roost or on the road. We have a couple times, and out of many of the conversations we've gotten to have with artists about the scene, our times with him have always been friendly, as is with the entire casts of bands he's played a part in. Tonight, we're headed out to support a friend in need, and if you are free, we hope you can do the same. ~~~~~~~~~~ Tonight isn't the only benefit being thrown in his honor this month, so keep your eyes open for more dates as we come closer to them. If there's one thing we've learned about Charlotte's music scene over time, it's that everyone involved is a part of a giant family, and everyone puts out the love any way they can.
