“Why are you so stressed over this?” Jackie asks, and Tai can’t stop the way she glares at Jackie.
“Because Van never really does anything for her birthday,” Tai says forcefully. “Because it’s in the summer,” she adds, to avoid follow-up questions. “And next year we’ll have already graduated and people will be moving away for college. So it needs to be perfect,” she says pointedly.
Shauna looks between them and sighs. “I think we can all handle a movie night.”
