My obsession with weird New Jersey began long before the magazine was published. My Dad, a truck driver, regularly drove us to New Jersey’s most beautiful, entertaining, scary, absurd, and unique attractions. I had never been on an airplane until I was twenty-seven but we explored every inch of our state. By the time Weird NJ was being published my brother and I were driving. To say the magazine and the attractions became obsessions is an understatement. Recently I was asked to show a piece in a group show at Dollhaus II Gallery in Bayonne. It was a great experience and the first time I sold a piece as “fine art.” After the show closed the owner, Emma, asked if I was interested in doing a full page ad to advertise the gallery in Weird NJ. How could I resist? She said I could do whatever I wanted… never a good thing to tell me when it comes to music or art. I did some sketches, including one I really liked, and then Emma asked me to pull back a bit. I immediately had an idea to create a hierarchy of a doll-headed universe. That is me “pulled back.” Weird NJ No 56 is available now, and please check out Dollhaus 2’s social media and website for schedules of upcoming shows. #PatJamesLongo #pencil #colorpencil #eraser #sketch #sketchbook #brushandink #graphicdesign #illustration #drawing #comix #comixart #lettering #typography @weirdnjinsta #weirdnjinsta #WeirdNJ #WeirdNewJersey #DollhausIIGallery @dollhaus2 #Dollhaus2 #Dollhaus2Gallery @dollhausartgallery #WeirdArt #OutsiderArtl https://www.instagram.com/p/CNi3woHDwdQ/?igshid=n4kcq8xq0kc4
