“Boyd, run! Get out of here!”
Despite his glitches getting more frequent, Huey’s words had been prominent in Boyd’s head over the course of the past few...
Gosh, what had it been? Hours? Days? Did time matter anymore? Did anything really matter anymore?
Not to a weapon of destruction, probably.
Boyd had ran, or rather flown, away from the group of bickering adults threatening to put an end to his life. Despite his insistence that he was a Definitely Real Boy, none of them outside of Huey had listened.
He had ran, hidden away from the judging public, cried over how unfair everything was. He was a Definitely Real Boy, he could feel it deep in his programming.
But none of that mattered.
All the adults saw was a weapon. A killer robot.
A villain.
He’d cried a bit longer, then made a choice. A choice he announced through just about any electronic device in Tokyolk that his hacking skills allowed him to access.
Effectively immediately, the city was under new management. Under the rule of the robot child who had plagued them all those years ago.
They wanted to fear him? To see him as nothing more than a killer robot?
Fine.
He was quick to strike that aforementioned fear into them with the destruction of the nearest building to him. Of course he felt a twinge of guilt watching all of them evacuate in a fearful rush, but...he had to ignore it. This is what they wanted, right? They wanted him to be a weapon? A killer robot? Just something to hate?
His tiny fist found the pavement in the nearby alleyway. He wasn’t tired, he didn’t need a break, and half the building was still standing, but that guilt really was too hard to ignore, and he contemplated giving the residents a fair chance at finishing their evacuation.
Psh. Why should he, though? It’s not like they would’ve done the same, right? They all wanted to kill him, to shut him down, to...to lie to him about being able to fix his malfunctions!
His rage bubbling over at the memory, he took to his work again and made sure to punch the nearest wall with as much force as he could possibly muster. If they couldn’t escape in time...well...
(I mean... Tell me I’m wrong)
