Eddie found dead in the orchestra pit

so here's some history for you:
the darling family, or as they were prior to the 1800s the schatz family, were cursed by a fey a few centuries ago. i think i finally figured out why they were cursed and what the curse was.
so from the 1450s to the 1750s europe especially engaged in witch hunts. i think in the swd-verse at least some of the victims were fey.
it was explained in SWDNT that the darlings/schatzes were once nobility before losing their status when the holy roman empire fell. one of the many excuses used for executing accused witches was they used magic to threaten the nobles.
i think in this one specific scenario the accusation was actually true. the schatzes stole land from a feyfolk village after driving them out. wanting revenge, one of the fey attacked the lord's carriage as it was passing by and they were captured.
i think before being executed, they poured their magic into their last words, which became a curse. of course, the curse had to be an insult and as i mentioned before the darling family as a whole all run on the short side. "may your lives all be as short as your stature"
so far the only way this has been circumvented is by marrying out of the family and having a child with that different name. changing your own name does nothing, apparently, as seen with eddie's grandma agnes AND wally's great-grandparents. walter and abby changed their name from schatz to darling and they still died in their 40s.
hence why the curse didn't affect eddie or alfred. agnes married out of the schatz name. she still died relatively young, but alfred survived and is still alive today.
wilhelm darling just might be a fluke, though.
wally, though i think he might end up breaking the curse. not only is he a fey himself but he's also spent his whole life trying to protect other fey, in direct opposition of his father and their distant ancestor who got them cursed.
wally finds a picture of his great grandparents with his grandpa and great uncle and learnswith great disappointment that he had absolutely no shot of ever being any taller than five feet even if his growth wasn't stunted.
because walter and abigail both had different types of dwarfism.
wally is so annoyed by this because he thought his small stature was just a result of neglect. turns out, while yes, that's partly it, it's also partly genetic.
he's even more annoyed after the feywood incident when he realizes that he DID get taller... but so did almost everyone else.
even julie.
julie is still taller than him and he finds this completely unfair.
as someone among the shortest in her family, let me tell you: you have no idea how annoying it is for nearly everything to be made for people almost six feet tall when you're only five. i literally have to climb counters to get things.
it's especially annoying because my one great-grandma was 6'8". and i am a measly 5' like post-feywood wally.
why am i not tall
why does my cousin who's not even related thru that side get the tall genes
this is the problem wally has. he's the shortest living member of his family by a lot and it drives him nuts.
it doesn't help that alfred dear (eddie's dad, ben darling's cousin) is also short. eddie has no business being 6'4". he's taller than both of his parents and pretty much everyone in the darling family that aren't willow's kids (except william and walburga)
edit to clarify: SWD!Wally does not have dwarfism. his growth was stunted primarily due to his tail (making up over half of his spine) being completely removed when he was still growing. this halted his growth completely, which was probably not helped by the years of physical neglect by his parents.
tldr wally's short because of a spinal injury not necessarily genetics. if his growth wasn't stunted he'd be around julie's height, which is what he ends up growing to post-feywood when nearly everyone else gets taller from their fey transformations.
wally being only 5 feet tall at his "corrected" height IS actually genetics. even his human relatives without dwarfism don't typically grow much taller than that. grandpa ben was only 5'3" (ik i said 5'8" in a really early post but i changed my mind)
except eddie. because not only did he skip the darling family blood curse he also skipped the darling family short genes. lucky bastard.
(the reason 3/5 of ben's kids are all tall is because he married a 7' tall dryad. wally unfortunately did not get his height from willow)
Things I Noticed #2: What's Up With Purple? 💜
Okay, I have a question: Why is purple so weirdly absent from Welcome Home??
I was listening to the "Just So" audio with Frank and Wally, and Frank starts singing every color in the rainbow...except purple. Wally adds, “And purple!” And Frank goes, “...Right!” Also, the audio distorts slightly the moment Wally mentions the color.
And another thing I noticed is that it's the least common color in Welcome Home. It's not completely absent, but compared to the rest of the rainbow, there's surprisingly little of it in the neighbors' designs and around the neighborhood. Eddie seems to be the biggest exception, which is interesting considering it's his favorite color.
Is it just a coincidence? Am I massively overthinking this? Or is there actually something going on here?
Either way, I'll be paying more attention to it as the story progresses...
Welcome Home Theory #6
Wonder if Barnaby is jealous of Frank and Eddie's relationship...

Also sorry if i took up too much space
Since you all engaged so much with the little fanart of Eddie I posted, here is an unfinished drawing. What do you think about having it redone?
