Outdoor Table Tutorial
I have been learning so much from the Miniature community, that I thought I am going to share in the form of mini tutorials how I make my little 1/24 and 1/16 scale miniatures.
Yesterday I shared my little sewing project and here is the finished piece. I started with a laser cut of the following pieces.
You can trace the pieces and adjust them to any size you need by taking a screenshot and printing it. Then trace it to the size you need on thin wood or thick cardboard.
Assembly is super easy. Just slide the legs together. When you have a good fit glue the legs together and then attach them to the table top. I like to use a super glue to keep the pieces together.
If you have something heavy you can place it on top of the legs until the glue sets.
If your table is a bit wobbly, just use fine grid sandpaper to even the legs out.
I wanted a silver finish and went for my favorite nail polish. I applied several coats until I got the look I wanted.
To make the table cloth I looked for a lid that was 3x larger than my table top. I traced around the parameter lightly and cut the piece of cloth to size. You can hem or use glue to finish the seam.
I am experimenting with different materials and wanted to try Arteza’s 3D Fabric colors. Be careful if you decide to use this it can splatter if you are not super careful. After the dots dried overnight, it was time to give the table cloth some pleats.
Place the table cloth over your table. My table is going into a diorama, so I glued the top down. If you want to be able to remove the table cloth use double sided tape to keep it in place temporarily. Then star folding little pleats one at a time. When the desired position is achieved use a dab of glue and pin it into place. Let the glue dry completely before removing the pins.
Voila - it’s finished. Just add some decorative pieces and you have a new small table .
