Brutal honest opinion on Psii and Rosa?

I think it could work, and I really adore it sometimes. My take on Rosa generally is written more as adopting all three of the others, but with different ages and attitudes, absolutely.

Rosa and Psii are the realists of the team because they have to be. Di grew up with just enough normalcy (or freedom and distance from society, depending on how I’m taking her backstory today) to see revolution as exciting, and Sign is a bundle of energy and hope one second and unbearable frustration at the world in the next, either way it’s emotions and an astonishing lack of self doubt and a need to move NOW - but Rosa spent a life in the caverns living with the very practical knowledge of who deserves to be killed and what her purpose is and what the Alternian people need, and Psii grew up with the very practical knowledge of how to survive slavery and how to lick his own wounds and how to keep his head down and maybe earn a short break or a full meal for exemplary behavior. They’re off on this revolutionary adventure, and they believe in it, but it’s somehow not the same experience the others are getting. Everything is moving so fast, everything needs practicality and planning, and their minds are still wired the way they’re wired. Boundless hope and beautiful images of rebellion fall to Di and Sign. The parts no one wants to think about, no matter how much the others try to share the load, fall to them.

They innately understand each other. There’s a by now unspoken “it’s just me, you can speak freely” between them much like between Porrim and Latula. Rosa is worse at opening up, because like Kanaya, she takes to mothering better than letting her friends tend to her - the latter feels unnatural at first, but it can happen with patience, time, and proof that the other person is just as capable and willing to help her. In a situation in which she doesn’t feel like his mother or mentor - he’s older, she’s taught him about freedom and revolutionary philosophy but he’s taught her things too, they’re on even footing and have developed the mutual respect of friends and peers - I absolutely think this ship is good. Pale, in my opinion, but who knows?
