How do you feel about your competitors?

“My personal feelings about my fellow candidates aren’t really relevant to the campaign, are they? I won’t be the one voting after all. I’m sure that as the campaign continues we’ll have a great deal to say about one another, but I should hope we’ll have considerably more to say on the subject of our policies. 

If you insist, however.

Mr. Malfoy is a very astute man with a great deal of .. influence within his social circles. We have seen a great many of his particular type of candidate surface in the past and while, admittedly I’m unfamiliar with his specific qualifications as I have yet to have the pleasure of working with him, I’m sure he will prove to be a very lively candidate to watch going forward.

I have had the very particular pleasure of working in the Minister’s office with Madam Umbridge for the past three years and as such I know that she is a very intelligent and determined woman that it would be terribly unwise to underestimate. I am sure that she will prove to be a formidable candidate over the course of the election.

As for Miss Bagnold, we spent a few years working together in the Department of International Magical Co-Operation and I believe her to be one of the most driven and capable people that I know. I believe she will be a very worthy opponent and I wish her, and all my other fellow candidates, all the best.”

how do you feel about cats?

“They’re wonderfully contrary creatures. It isn’t so much how you feel about them but how they feel about you, isn’t it? When I was first promoted into the Minister’s office there was a very brief period of .. I suppose you would call it an initiation, in which I had to take care of Madam Umbridge’s cats while she was on holiday. She wasn’t particularly pleased when they decided they wanted to follow me home. 

I’m sure my neighbours were relieved that she was so intent on keeping them, they were particularly aggressive animals and I’m not sure Mrs. Pott’s dalmations would have survived the encounter — come to think of it, they don’t seem entirely thrilled with how much the neighbourhood cats seem to like my garden, but cats are very intuitive animals, they only gift their loyalty to those who deserve it. They can tell a dishonest person from a mile away. If a cat doesn’t like you, you have to wonder why, don’t you?”
