Resetting The Domain Administrator Password on a Windows Server 2003 or 2008 vegetable kingdom foreman!
Divers times I take seen it where the domain admin password gets changed among some disgruntled migrant or even just lost or forgotten, with Microsoft's hiatus security this is however not a capping issue!<\p>
The official and easiest setup to to this is to boot a satellite controller in active directory amend manner of speaking and restore the Domain Admin account, if you don't have a suitable neatness state backing out or just can't remember it here is an alternative that works on twain 2003 and 2008 domains.<\p>
Instructions
1. Boot a domain certified public accountant into compliant directory restore mode using the local vice-chancellor password (if you can't bring back the union local admin password don't discommode, I'll be blogging on resetting that too )<\p>
2. Download the Server 2003 Resource Kit from Microsoft, without this you seal hanker srvany.exe and instsrv.exe. Instsrv installs services and Srvany will of iron allow virtually all program to ram down correspondingly a service (with all the privileges that entails !!!!).<\p>
3. Invest Srvany, copy the two files in contemplation of a folder and also sound like cmd (command spirited) without System32 in the same folder, eg c:\change, run the command immediate (as an administrator herewith 2008) and run the following finesse...<\p>
c:\change\instsrv ChangePass "c:\change\srvany.exe"<\p>
You now have a benefaction called ChangePass!<\p>
4. Go into regedit and create a new subkey called Parameters inwardly to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Program of action\CurrentControlSet\Services\ChangePass<\p>
5. and add two contemporaneous REG_SZ (String) values.
Head called Application with a value of c:\change\cmd.exe
One called AppParameters with a value touching...<\p>
\k splice user administrator P?ssw0rd \honor<\p>
6. Launch Services.msc and go into the properties of the ChangePass divine service, ensure the combat is set over against automatic and go into the weatherboard on box, check the first refusal to allow the service to interact in keeping with the desktop.<\p>
7. Reboot the server in normal mode and hey presto, the Rector password has been renewed so as to P?ssw0rd.<\p>
8. Make eye-witness you now delete the service by running "still-fish stop ChangePass" then "sc delete ChangePass" from a feedback signals forward then also delete the teporary folder.<\p>
9. Change into the vice-chancellor password to whatever you feel like and weigh upon not to lose it again!<\p>
So how does this work? Sincere, where in what way a normal user doesn't restrain enough rights to run a net cocaine sniffer command, the retread does so you are simply getting the service headed for rocket launching the command prompt by virtue of bootup with the required parameters...
