who are we counting as family?
“About half of the castle.” Lily quipped, glancing around the Great Hall in a vain attempt to find everyone in the crowd. It had been the running gag of their school days: ‘The Weasleys breed like bunnies! The Weasleys are related to everyone!’ Those were much simpler times. Lily started counting with her fingers. “Anyone with the last name Weasley or Potter but that goes without saying, of course. The Longbottoms and the Scamanders are definitely family as well. Teddy is everyone’s big brother…I suppose we should count Nadia Zabini too since he put a ring on it. And we can’t forget Cel, apparently her mum wanted James to put a ring on it. Can you believe that? Scorpius might as well be a Weasley at this point; I swear if you’re up close you can still see the faintest markings of those tattoos Molly cast on him. McGonagall is the stern great-grandmother I never had – come on, do you honestly expect me to name everyone? Almost all purebloods are at least distantly related, if you want to get technical, but family’s not about blood, is it? It’s about love. Who would you do anything for? That’s your family.”
