WRITING KID APPROPRIATE STUFF IS REALLY HARD

I'm trying to write a really short bio of Don Crabtree (look him up,he was a cool dude!) Normally it would be no big deal, but this is frustrating as shit because I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TALK TO LITTLE KIDS. It's part of a small activity book we'll be handing out at the county fair next week, and the target age group is like, 8. Ish. Everything I write out sounds like I'm writing a fucking paper for a 400 level class.

That is not going to work.
