Archives Hashtag Party - Archives Menus
We’ve shared some menus from this book before, but we figured what better way to celebrate this month’s Archives Hashtag Party theme than with a book that is all menus?! The book is The Milwaukee Menu Book edited by Don Funk and Jim Holmes. It was published in 1977 by Allied Industries in Pittsburgh, PA.
Today we’ve chosen menus for restaurants that still exist in Milwaukee today! Well, mostly. The Scaffidi’s restaurant seen here is not the same as the Scaffidi’s Hideout on Humboldt Avenue today, which is mainly just a bar but can make you a frozen pizza! We also have menus here from Mader’s, Bluemound Inn, and The Packing House.
Two of my favorite things about the book are the mushroom on the cover and the cornucopia-esque beer stein that accompanies the introduction.
