These snapshots are here with the sole purpose of strongly urging you to go see Don Bachardy’s wonderful portraits of women over five decades of his career. The exhibit is at Santa Monica College until Dec 1st. Don is a modern master. Looking at his work from various eras, with many different subjects, I have enjoyed watching the evolution of his style from highly realistic beautiful and detailed monochrome to exquisite placement of simple shapes of color that bring out so much of the personality of his subjects. I especially love the faces of his older sitters. I know of few painters who can properly bring out such beauty regardless of the sitter’s age, or gender. #portraits #donbachardy #painter #painting
