An exclusive chat with Lewis Reeves, the film-maker and actor behind the much-anticipated new James Coppinger documentary
"The lengthy time from having the initial idea to seeing the final product has not been without its stresses. At one point Lewis thought the plug may well have been pulled but the intervention of arguably the most high-profile Rovers fan, musician Louis Tomlinson, ensured it got the financial boost it needed to get completed: "We ended up bringing in Louis Tomlinson and that gave the film a second wind when it really looked like we were in a bit of trouble.
"Louis is the executive producer and he helped finance the rest of the film when we didn't have the rest of the budget.
"So he came to save the day really. And he's a massive fan of the club, a massive fan of Copps. He's not been massively involved in the creative process, but always been there to support so he's been an integral part in that sense.""

We are proud to launch our limited edition 2025/26 fourth shirt, created in partnership with Louis Tomlinson’s 28 Clothing streetwear brand.
The global music star and lifelong Rovers fan teamed up with the design experts at the club’s technical partner OXEN to craft a shirt that celebrates his Doncaster roots and passion for making a difference in the city.
The shirt features 28 Clothing branding across the shoulders, with the logo featured below the collar on the rear.
The design reflects a Rovers away shirt from the early 1990s and also nods to last season’s League Two title winning campaign, with four stars above the club badge to honour each of our fourth tier championship triumphs.
But this is a shirt that stands for more than achievement. It stands for impact.
The creation of the shirt allows Louis to give back to Club Doncaster Foundation, whose pre-natal course provided support to a close family member. This experience reinforced his desire to champion the organisation which helps thousands of people each year and £5 from every shirt sold will be donated directly to the charity.
Emblazoned with the newly-refreshed Foundation logo, the green shirt will help to fund the charity organisation’s transformative projects across the area, allowing staff to expand initiatives in schools, deliver health and wellbeing projects and strengthen community programmes to tackle social challenges.
Foundation CEO John Davis said: “Our community is at the heart of everything we do.
“Every shirt purchased will help us reach more people, create more opportunities and make a bigger impact across Doncaster and the surrounding area.”
Louis’ continued devotion to the club and its people continues to shine through beyond this project as he champions Rovers and the Foundation on his travels across the world.
Most recently, he has contributed funding to the upcoming documentary honouring the career of James Coppinger, which is due for release in early 2026 - a testament to Louis’ commitment to celebrating and supporting Doncaster’s stories.
Purchasing the shirt not only allows supporters to get their hands on a rare piece of club merchandise, it allows them to play an active role in shaping a stronger, healthier and more connected Doncaster.
The shirts are now available to purchase priced at £50 for adults, including a ladies fit, and £40 for juniors, with a wide range of sizings. To purchase, click HERE.louis
