Valentine's Day Drabbles
Donerty for Taylor !!
"It's a classic, Kyle. And it's Valentine's Day. You are absolutely singing it."
They both stared at one another, both with narrowed eyes and neither wavering in their resolve. The silence was deafening and their stares could have carved a hole in the wall had they turned to look there instead. And finally, after too long, Bridget just slapped the sheet music down on the table between them, saying, "Yes, you are," and turning to leave.
Kyle looked down at the title distastefully, one side of his upper lip curling up. Picking it up tentatively, he paged through the song, recognizing the notes and lyrics. Bridget was right; it was a classic. Everyone probably knew the words, though nobody would admit as much. That was the last thing you wanted to admit here, at a school where just admitting you liked singing meant you were secretly lusting after the entire football team.
So, he probably could...
Nah. Why should he?
But, go figure, later in the day when Bridget got up to sing, brushing her hair out of her face and straightening her skirt as she stood up from her seat, he stood up, too. And maybe she could have done him a favor by looking surprised, but they'd both known all along that he'd get up here in the end.
