i devoted myself to you. my entire existance revolved around you, in one of the most toxic ways. then the mental abuse, the toxic dominance.

you always said i ran away from my problems...i was escaping, really. from you too.

to you, i forgive you. i forgive you for everything that you did. for all the hurt you caused, the cheating, the lying. even the sadness. everything came to light in the end, things started adding up. the only reason you laid in that dark closet, depressed, was because that other person didn’t want you, and you were, in your words, stuck with me.

but i also forgive myself. for thinking it was me all along. for thinking i wasn’t enough. for giving you my all, my family, my home, my heart, and almost all of my dignity. i sleep soundly at night, knowing i’m not the one who turned out to be just like their Father. a drug addict, a liar, and most of all a cheater.

i thank you, too. without this happening, i wouldn’t have found my worth. i wouldn’t of found who i am. i wouldn’t have been two years sober this month. i’ve lived through hell and i’m alive. i pushed through. i’ve always been level headed, but now i know that i will never dumb myself down for someone who isn’t even half of the person i am.
