Day Six and Seven: The markets and Seoul Grand Park
This weekend has been superb. Between these last two days I have hit the Namdaemun Market, the Dongaemun Market, Doota and Seoul Grand Park. Luckily the subway is a dream and extremely easy to navigate so getting all across Seoul was a breeze.
The Namdaemun Market was very lively and fun, it is a huge traditional Korean market that has many vendors squeezed into this maze of back streets, corridors and alley ways. I only got lost once.
The other market, Dongdaemun, is filled with clothes and department stores. It was not as "market-like" as Namdaemun, but it had a lot more products that I purchased.
Seoul Grand Park is beautiful. It is a collection of many attractions, there is a Zoo, amusement park, rose garden and the National Museum of Contemporary Art. I spent all my time at the Zoo.
This zoo was unlike any that I have been to before, the animals were actually not only awake, but playing. The scenery made me think that I was in a post card and they had a nursery. How do you beat seeing baby animals?
There was also a dolphin show! Even though it was in Korean and I had no idea what anyone was saying, I got to see dolphins and they are adorable.
The best part of it all was that it was only 5,000 Won! (a little less then $5 USD).
