When you’re around, Donghun will always have one eye on you. He likes to know where you are, mainly just in case he needs you or you need him, but he won’t be any your face, usually watching just from afar.
B ⇴ BICKER
The two of you don’t mind too much when it comes to bickering with each other, but when it starts to turn a little bit personal, Donghun will halt things. He won’t mind bickering with you but when the two of you start getting annoyed with one another and take it a bit below the belt, he won’t let the two of you do that.
C ⇴ COMFORT
He’s an incredible listener, whenever you have a problem Donghun will always let you vent to him, no questions asked. You offload about everything to Donghun, even when you ask him if he’s sure that he has the time to listen to you, he always makes it and makes sure that you don’t suffer in silence with anything.
D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS
One of the things that Donghun hates is arguing with you, he much prefers for the two of you to get along. He’ll do whatever he can to prevent an argument from happening when he senses one coming, he’s not the argumentative type at all. No matter how hard you try sometimes to make the argument happen, Donghun won’t back down and he’ll still respond incredibly calm and composed to what you say.
E ⇴ EARLY YEARS
You’d both heard things about one another through friends before you met, which saved a bit of awkwardness when you were getting to know one another. You had a rough idea of what Donghun would be like and he had a rough idea of what you’d be like, but as you got to know each other there were still plenty of surprising things that you found out about one another that your friends hadn’t mentioned to you.
F ⇴ FAMILY
Donghun’s family were very fond of you, mainly because they saw how happy he was whenever he spent time with you. Knowing that Donghun liked being around you and that you brought something positive to his life was all that his family needed to know that you were someone that they would like too. When they first met you, their instincts had proven them right too, as they all got along with you so well.
G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER
When the two of you got together and hung out, you’d usually go somewhere quiet and relaxed. Neither of you were fussed about anything too loud, especially when Donghun thought that a large gathering of fans would be there too, so instead you decided to focus on chilling whenever you got together.
H ⇴ HABITS
The two of you had a habit of knowing exactly when the other was feeling down, picking up on their moods straight away. You had learnt the signs with one another to know when something wasn’t quite right, and most of all you’d learnt how to tease it from each other so that they’d spill what was on their minds.
I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES
Together, you had plenty of inside jokes together, you laughed to mess around with each other which provided you with plenty of funny moments. Not many people believed that the two of you had as many inside jokes as you did, but after so many years together, you had many years that they stretched over.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
He was very protective of you and conscious of the people that you hung around with, whilst Donghun would be polite to someone that he didn’t know, he would be observant too. If there was something who particularly rubbed him up the wrong way then Donghun would mention it to you, making sure though that you knew he came from a good place and that he was just guilty of looking out for you.
K ⇴ KICKS
Donghun got a kick out of proving you wrong and being the one in the right. He was surprisingly stubborn when he was with you, especially if was convinced that you were wrong. He also loved it because there was absolutely nothing worse for you than when you realised that you were in fact in the wrong.
L ⇴ LOVE
He loved how he never got bored whenever he spent time with you, there was always something fun and new for the two of you to try. Even if he was just sat in silence with you, Donghun often had a smile on his face as he was with you and not having to worry for a little while. The moment you’d sense that he was beginning to get bored, you’d find something to do that would cheer him back up again.
M ⇴ MEETING
The two of you met through mutual friends at a concert that you were both invited too. You found yourselves standing together as the music played, mostly as you weren’t jumping around as much as your other friends, soon beginning to talk to one another too as you found out about other musical interests you had.
N ⇴ NONSENSE
Although very few people got to see Donghun’s nonsense side, you were one of only a couple that did. You knew how much he loved to guard himself and be conscious, but he never fussed about that once with you.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
Donghun was obsessed with your company, he loved spending time with you, even when you were doing nothing. When he didn’t have you around, he missed your presence, even if you had only just left him.
P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS
There was no better time for Donghun than when he just got to hang out with you, because he loved feeling as if nothing else mattered. He loved that being with you was so carefree and that he could focus on something other than music for a little while, often giving him just the rare chance to be human for once.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
He loved to share his new ideas with you, Donghun would often ask you if you wanted to hear about what he had planned, even if you thought he was talking complete nonsense, you’d always at least humour him.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
Whenever he was up on stage, Donghun always wore a bracelet that you had given him near to when the two of you first met. He loved having it with him when he performed as it felt like he had you with him, and whenever he got nervous, he’d play with the bracelet to remind himself of the advice you always gave him.
S ⇴ SUPPORT
You were the person that Donghun often looked for in the crowd, as much as he loved looking out and seeing the fans singing and staring back at him, he loved having you there the most. It made him smile whenever he saw you, as you were the person in the crowd that he wanted to make sure he impressed the most.
T ⇴ TRIPS
Whenever he had some free time, Donghun loved to take you away as a thank you for all that you did for him when he was busy, it was the least that he could do in his opinion with all that you did for him.
U ⇴ ULTIMATE
Many people often wondered what Donghun did in a past life to secure himself such a great best friend, and he often thought the same.
V ⇴ VISITS
Most of the time the two of you would try and time things like your lunches together so that you could eat together and spend a bit of time together, especially when you hadn’t hung out together for a while.
W ⇴ WISDOM
He loved to pass on his advice to you, Donghun tried his best to understand you so that he could give advice that would be useful for you.
X ⇴ XXXX
The two of you weren’t very affectionate with one another, there would be the odd hug or tickle but that was about as far as it got. It just seemed to be one of those things that never really carried for you both,
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his favourite; you were definitely the go to person in Donghun’s life.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
Quite often he would ask to stay at yours for the night, especially when he wanted the escapism for a while. Donghun loved being at your place when life got busy so that he could give himself a bit of a timeout.
Though you’d initially been furious to have been duped, you had to admit meeting Jiham and getting to know him—becoming friends—had been an unexpected bonus.
“If you want, I’ll go down to the police station with you.”
You sighed with relief. “Thanks. I’m a little nervous yet pissed that I have to bother at all.”
“I figured as much. Still torn over whether I should thank them.”
“Are you insane? Thank them for what?”
“If they hadn’t given you a fake number, we never would have met.” He smiled brightly, positively radiating sunshine.
“I’m sure we could have met under better circumstances.”
“Or not at all. The thought of that makes my chest hurt.” He rubbed the area where his heart beat. “You’re my best friend.”

Summary: Donghun gets into an accident, he’s fine, but he doesn’t expect the feelings he will feel for his nurse.
The sound of monitors beeping wake Donghun up. His eyes unfocused and bleary as we looks around the room. He didn’t recognize where he was. It was a small room, simple. When he tried to move his head a hot pain shot down his skull. A horrible throb in his arm only adding to his lightheadedness.
“You’re awake.” A soft voice says beside him.
Donghun slowly turns his head and forces his eyes to focus. A girl with her dark hair pulled into a high pony tail and a stethoscope resting against her chest.
“Can you tell me what your name is?” She asks, shining a light in each of his eyes.
“Donghun.” He answers, his own voice sounding foreign. “Where am I?” He asks, his voice broken and deep.
“You’re in a hospital. You had an accident. You have a broken arm and a minor concussion along with a deep cut along your forehead that needed stitches. Try not to move around too much.” She explains as she continues her examination.
Donghun realized then that his arm was in a sling, a steady line of IV’s snaking into his arm and upward. He rested his head against the pillow and closed his eyes. The last thing he could remember was driving to his dorm when he saw a bright light in the corner of his eye. Everything else was scattered in his mind. The sound of cop sirens, broken glass shattered over the pavement, a searing pain in his arm as the seatbelt held him against the seat tightly.
“Are you in pain?” The girl asks again, checking his IV bags.
Donghun nods, “A little.”
She nods and fixes the IV drip to make it come out a little steadier. Donghun sighs as a rush of relief as the morphine hits his veins with a cooling effect.
“Thank you.” He whispers, sleep pulling at him.
She smiles sweetly at him, “If you need anything just hit that button beside you and I’ll come check on you. But try to relax and get some rest.”
Donghun nods, watching her leave as a scurry of voices fill the halls loudly, making his eyes open wider. The rest of his members rushed into his room, their faces painted in worry as they asked him questions. Jun scolded him a new one for not being more careful.
Eventually, the nurse Donghun saw before had to gently ask them to leave. A part of Donghun wished they could stay but the other part was glad she had them leave. Because not more than 5 minutes later he was asleep soundly. His body and nerves exhausted.
~~~
“I have to take these stitches out, Donghun.” The nurse huffed. Her dark hair that was up a few nights ago in a pony tail was now down. Falling past her shoulders and brushing against Donghun’s cheek as she tried to remove the stitches from his forehead.
“It hurts.” He whines, his lower lip pouting.
“I know, I’m sorry.” She sympathizes softly. “But they have to come out.”
Donghun sighs and tries to hold still as she works. Her fingers warm and gentle as she removes the stitches from his wound before cleaning it once more to make sure everything was clean.
“There,” She says, “You’re all done.” Stepping away from him to remove her gloves and sanitize her hands.
Donghun breathes a sigh of relief, glad that part was over with. She returned to his side as she pulled his blankets off his body.
“Come on.” She says, holding her hand out to him.
He glares at her, not wanting to move. “I don’t need to get up right now.”
She rolls her eyes at him, “Too bad. You need exercise. Let’s go.”
Donghun groans and gets up slowly, his head feeling dizzy as he stood. She rested her hands against his arms to steady him, letting him find his footing before taking his good arm to walk him out into the halls.
“You’re healing quickly.” She tells him encouragingly as they walk down the halls.
“Does that mean I can sleep in my own bed soon?” Donghun jokes, still holding onto her hand as they walked.
She chuckles at that, “Soon. I promise. Your friends have been by here a lot making sure you stay in a good mood.”
Donghun smiled at that. His members had loyally stayed beside him through these past few days. And he was expected to remain in the hospital for a week or more just to be sure he was okay. His arm had required a small surgery, so his hospital stay was extended because of it.
They walked in silence as they circled back to his room. He had come to enjoy his nurses company these past few weeks. She was sweet and kept him calm and content despite being in a hospital.
They reached his room and he slowly collapsed onto the bed. A sigh escaping his mouth, glad to be laying down again. She covered him with a clean blanket before turning to leave the room.
“Are you leaving?” Donghun asked, raising his head.
She turned and smiled at him. “For now. But my shift doesn’t end for another two hours.”
Donghun nodded, feeling a strange sense of relief wash through him.
“Go to sleep.” She told him, dimming the lights. “You look tired.”
“Okay.” Donghun said weakly, his eyes already starting to close as she closed his door quietly.
~~~
Donghun couldn’t sleep. He had been in the hospital for six days and this was his final night. He was restless and was anxious to go home. Even though the clock read 2:30 AM he wasn’t tired in the slightest. He was sitting up in bed watching TV trying to ignore the pain in his arm when his door opened. He smiled cheekily when he saw who it was.
“What are you doing up?” She asks, smiling at him as she walks closer to him.
“I can’t sleep.” He admits, tilting his head slightly to meet her eyes.
“You’re probably excited to go home.” She says, smiling at him. She pulls a stool up beside his bed before telling him, “I need to check the incision on your arm.”
Donghun sighs and leans back in his bed, giving her access to his broken arm. He watches her as she removes the sling from his shoulder and starts unwrapping his arm gently.
“Do you ever sleep?” Donghun blurts out. A blush creeping onto his face.
She laughs and continues her job. “I work night shifts sometimes. Other times I work day shifts. Right now I’m working a 17 hour shift that started at midnight.”
“You work really hard.” Donghun observes, his eyes trained on her as she examines his arm. The way the light casted shadows over her face and hair made her look both beautiful but tired at the same time. Donghun shook his head, trying to shake the thoughts.
“I love helping people.” She told him as she began wrapping his arm again. “I’ll gladly lose sleep to save a life.”
Donghun nods in acknowledgment. Her selflessness making his heart flutter. He couldn’t help the next words that came out of his mouth. “What will happen to you once I leave?”
She looked at him with some surprise. “Keep working. Be assigned new patients. But you won’t be completely rid of me, if that’s what you’re wondering. You have to come in for therapy for your arm and I’ll be helping you sometimes.”
Donghun felt a thrill go through him, strangely happy he would be seeing her again. Because if he was honest with himself, he wanted to see more of her.
“I look forward to it.” He said with sincerity. She met his eyes and smiled, holding his gaze.
“I do too, Donghun.” She answered truthfully, making Donghun smile.
~~~
3 weeks later:
“Can you do that a few more times?” She asked him, standing in front of him watching as he performed his therapy session.
Donghun nodded as he gently lifted his arm, her hand touched his elbow to offer gentle support as he performed his exercises.
Donghun let his arm fall and sucked in a breath from the pain that shot up his arm. “I don’t think I can do that anymore.” He admitted, hanging his head.
“Okay.” She whispered. “It’s okay. You did really good.” She tried to soothe, making Donghun smile a bit at her kindness.
“Let me put your cast on.” She said, taking his arm gently in her hands.
Donghun nodded, letting her put the white cast back on his arm. He stared at her as she worked, a warm feeling filling his chest.
“I really appreciate your help.” He said softly, making her stop what she was doing and look at him.
“You don’t need my help.” She told him through a smile, “You’re doing really well on your own.”
“Maybe.” He shrugged, “But you really have helped me through all of this.”
She smiled at him, a blush creeping across her cheeks that made her look down and busy herself with finishing putting his cast on.
“Can I ask you something?” Donghun asked quietly, still staring at her.
She looked up at him and patiently waited. “Would you go out for coffee with me sometime?” Donghun asked, his heart in his throat from nerves.
It felt like forever before she stood up and gently took his face in her hands before placing a gentle kiss on his forehead, making Donghun close his eyes and smile.
“I would like that, Donghun.” She told him as she pulled away, both of them smiling at each other.
It had started out rather innocent. Little messages left around the apartment to ensure your new housemate Donghun kept on top of things since your work shifts didn’t match up.
Don’t forget the trash is collected tomorrow.
Communal clean up on Sunday 10-12pm.
I left you some pancakes for breakfast. Enjoy!
There was nothing serious about them needing any reply. That’s why you never expected to receive notes back. They weren’t of the same style as yours were and yet they made you start the day out with a giddy smile on your face after discovering them.
Did you sleep well?
I wonder what the world looks like through your eyes?
I once laughed so hard I snorted soda out my nose. What’s your most embarrassing laughter story?
You didn’t want to admit that you had stuck his messages into your journal and often looked them over before going to sleep.
But you did reply to them. Each time, you would take to the little yellow pad on the kitchen countertop, scribbling a response to his questions and eventually leaving your own. Without crossing paths throughout the working week, you learned more about each other. And on your shared day off, you would carry on from some of the conversations you had started by pen.
Donghun raised an eyebrow at you as he cleaned the kitchen. “I don’t believe you. Surely you have a more embarrassing story.”
“Sorry to disappoint,” you responded with a grin. “Looks like my life is less interesting than yours.”
“You’re saving face.”
“Am not, Dongdong,” you cooed affectionately, the man rolling his eyes at the use of his childhood nickname.
“I’m frustrated that someone isn’t taking the note-passing game seriously.”
“Hey! I am too!”
Throwing down the washcloth, Donghun rounded the kitchen corner and folded his arms over his chest. “Alright, I’ll ask you a series of questions in a quickfire round. That way you won’t be able to think and just tell me the truth. Then, to make it fair, you can ask me a round of questions afterwards. Deal?”
“Alright, challenge accepted.”
Donghun smirked. “Favourite time of the day?”
“Morning.”
“Blue or red?”
“Blue.”
“What was your first kiss like?” You blinked a couple of times, Donghun tilting his head at your lack of an answer. “It’s quickfire, Y/N.”
You cringed. “Slobbery.”
He grinned. “When was your last boyfriend?”
“Over a year ago,” you answered and then went to speak but Donghun got in before you.
“Would you want to go out on a date with me?”
“Yes – Woah, hang on!” you exclaimed as your cheeks flushed with colour, the satisfied smile on Donghun’s face proving that last question had been what he wanted to ask all along.
Stepping closer, he leaned into your face. “Would you let me kiss you right now?”
You nodded, meeting his lips midway. It wasn’t a long first kiss but you could feel his growing interest to experience more with you.
Donghun pulled away just long enough to smile at you. “Your turn.”
***WARNING: There’s like one cuss word near the end, that’s all***
“I swear, on my love of all things Mario, that if you even get close to me with that thing, I will smack you all the way into next week. Don’t test me.” For the first words out of your mouth the entire day, it seemed pretty fitting that they were threatening. Not only were you dragged out of your warm bed far too early in the morning, but you were also in a terrible mood. Let’s just say that someone, your roommate, stayed up late blasting ‘80s tunes, which resulted in a lack of sleep on your end. Thus, the grouch monster you kept hidden away, for the most part, made its presence known when Donghun had shown up to drag you out.
Donghun just raised a brow at your threat. It made sense, you’d never been very good at following through on your threats with him. “I highly doubt that,” He scoffed. “Besides, since when has your love of Mario ever outshone your love for Toad? If you truly wanted to threaten me, you would’ve used Toad.”
To say the look you gave him was scorching would be an understatement, it would fit best under the ‘if looks could kill’ category. With a sigh, Donghun dropped the feathered pillow back onto the display couch.
“Why do you hate pillows like that so much anyway?” He questioned, slinging his arm around your shoulder.
You purse your lips. “I had a bad experience with them when I was a kid… My dog tore one up and ate some of the feathers. Seeing a dog vomit feathers is not a good memory.”
Donghun made a sound of disgust, nodding in agreeance. “Understandable.”
The two of you wandered around the home goods store for a while, the conversation taking a light-hearted turn. Donghun had brought you with him because he “didn’t know what would fit” in his new apartment. Seriously. He was using you like a free interior designer. Though, he did promise to buy lunch and your favorite ice cream. It was an acceptable deal- you get food, and you get to help choose his decorations. A win-win sort of thing, especially since you knew you’d be spending a lot of your time at his place. Your roommate was annoying, put simply.
Halfway through the aisle of lamps, someone called out to you. “Excuse me?”
Turning on your heel, Donghun’s arm falls from your shoulder. “Yes?”
“I have a question, or rather a request?” A woman asked, her voice quiet. She didn’t wait for a response before soldiering on, no matter how nervous she seemed. “Could I take some photos of you guys? You’re a really cute couple, and I would love to feature you on my channel.”
You blinked at her slowly. A couple? Donghun, and you? What an absurd idea. “I’m sorry, we aren’t—” You started.
“Sure, we don’t mind.” He replied before looking at you. “Do we, baby?”
As if him agreeing wasn’t shocking enough, he had to go and call you ‘baby’? You just stared at him, wide-eyed, mouth parted slightly. The sheer audacity of this man.
“Awesome!” The woman beamed. “I’m Dia, by the way.”
She directed you two to one of the couches on display. “Relax,” She kept saying. But how were you meant to relax when a stranger was taking photos of you? Then she instructed you to look into each other’s eyes, which made you feel all the more awkward. Donghun’s eyes were burning into yours, an emotion you couldn’t quite place, making its home there. His stare was too intense, your cheeks were aflame as you glanced away from him, a nervous smile on your face. All the while, the camera shutter clicked in rapid-fire succession.
You thought that Dia might be done with how many times you’d heard the click of her camera, but that wasn’t the case. The photographer asked you to go to the gardening section of the store for a different setting. A small part of you wanted to object, but another part wanted to see where this would go. So, you followed her, and let her direct you two in front of a section of greenery. Donghun’s arms wrapped around your waist, drawing you close enough to rest his head on top of yours. You wondered if he could hear how fast your heart was beating. The thunderous sound was all you could hear.
Then you heard a question that made you do a double-take. “Would you guys mind if I took a few photos of you kissing? Nothing major, just a little peck.”
You jerked your head back, looking at Donghun. If you didn’t know any better, you would think that the way his eyes lowered was seductive, the corner of his mouth tilting up. “Alright.” His reply caught you off guard. What on Earth was going on in his head right now? Was he just trying to mess with you?
“Great! Now, this should be light, serene, almost blissful. Nothing fierce.”
Dia counted down. Three, his face was getting closer to yours. Two, you could feel his breath. One, your eyes fluttered shut as his lips brushed against yours gently. Was this what it felt like to have your heart go into a frenzy? Like it’s going to explode purely because there’s no humanly way for it to beat any faster than it already is?
“Perfect,” Dia exclaimed. “Let me give you guys my social media and email so that I can share the photos with you when they come out of editing.”
You stood there, frozen in place, as Donghun got her information and bid her goodbye. It was only once he was facing you again, and Dia had disappeared into the store, that your mind unpaused. A million thoughts flooded your head, the main one being: why? What the hell was going through his mind to agree to any of that? And you asked him just that, voice raised, wobbling uncharacteristically.
He shrugged, a playful look on his face. “I had no problem with it.”
“Why didn’t you? We aren’t a couple.” You muttered, crossing your arms.
“But we could be,” Donghun says softly, taking a step closer to you.
“I know it’s— Wait. What?”
“We could be a couple if you wanted.”
Blinking wide-eyed at him, you stammer nonsense, trying to formulate a response, heart pounding in your chest. Heat rises to your cheeks. Was he saying what you think he was saying? “You- want… With me?”
He thunks a finger on your nose. “Yes, you adorably dense human.”
