PHYSICAL TOUCH,
It’s obvious from the way he stiffens under your touch that Dongrang is not used to physical affection at best and touch starved at worst. However, no matter what you do or say, Dongrang will always shrug off your touch like it’s not something that’s important to him.
It’s not that he hates your touch, far from it, but more so that he believes he doesn’t deserve it. Between his failure to do any real good and the atrocities he has committed hidden from prying eyes, he believes, as irrational and illogical as it is, that he’s filthy and letting you touch him or touching you himself would make you filthy, too.
He doesn’t want you to catch onto that though, especially not if you’re one to crave physical touch like he is, so he usually grits his teeth and shows you the most amount of affection he can show you without feeling disgusted with himself— more than what he usually feels anyway.
ACTS OF SERVICE,
With how busy he is, it’s the one thing he appreciates the most. More often than not he doesn’t have the time to look after himself aside from the bare minimum so it helps him a lot when you help him out in that regard.
GIFT GIVING,
To no one’s surprise, it’s his preferred way of showing his love and affection for you. He knows you like the back of his hand — at least he likes to believe that he does — so getting you gifts that you love is easy. The only problem is finding where he’ll buy you your gifts in the first place, but he can ask Samjo to do it in his stead if searching for your gift serves to be too much trouble.
WORDS OF AFFIRMATION,
He doesn’t exactly hate it, but it’s hard to say if he likes it either with the way he simply smiles at your affirmations before changing the topic to something else. He doesn’t mind if your love language is words of affirmation and he’ll easily weave praises and compliments into his conversations with you, but it’s awkward for him when you do the same thing to him.
He has the same opinion towards it as he does physical touch: he craves both deeply, but he can’t bring himself to accept them as he is now. He couldn’t even if he tried, really, not after he was told time and time again that he was being foolish for wanting to do good. Being praised for his efforts now, or for anything else really, just doesn’t sit right with him.
Though he does appreciate your enthusiasm about it.
QUALITY TIME,
Dongrang, while capable of finding just enough time to go pester people, is usually too busy to spend time with you properly.
Make no mistake, you’ll be among the people that he pesters when he finds the time — at the top of that list, even — but most of the time he’s too busy with his work to really go on dates with you. The most he can do is dedicating two or three days a month solely to you, though if it’s his undivided attention that you want then it’s certainly not a bad thing.

Dongrang will smile and return your hug without hesitation, but he’ll feel guilty that you’re hugging him in the first place.
He enjoys your hugs — he really does! — but he doesn’t feel worthy of them, not yet.
There’s still so much that he could do, so many people that he could help, so to feel you hugging him before he brought the change he wanted into The City felt wrong. Not to mention the many times he helped Alfonso torment people in front of the crying thing or retrieve footage of people dying.
It was all necessary, but it made him feel unworthy of affection even if he didn’t show it.
That’s why he’ll always cut your hugs short no matter the situation is. He cares for you but until he can start changing things then he won’t be able to accept your affection so easily.
