joohyun lost her fear of what hides in seoul’s streets when the light of the day can’t touch them anymore. with a smirk and a sigh, she realizes she lost her fear for a lot of things. she walks through the crowd and she feels numb. the first time she stepped on those streets she was hopeful. her heart was beating loudly against her chest and her eyes were glimmering with joy. sometimes, joohyun wonders where that fourteen girl went. if she got lost between the harassment of landlords and the small shoplifts. sometimes, she wonders if that fourteen year old went to take a walk when joohyun had to sleep without the comfort of a bed - or a room - and never got back. or maybe, that fourteen year old was taken away by goong min’s swift arms - maybe he took her heart too, her ability to feel and to love. but truthfully, he left something behind. joohyun was just stupid enough to let another person take the rest.
since she has no fear, she isn’t vigilant as she should be as a young girl walking on the streets to her home. joohyun has sound blasting in her ears and her eyes fixed nowhere so it isn’t a surprise when she doesn’t notice she has company. she feels a tight grip on her arm and a hiss falls through her teeth as she turns around. there is nothing familiar or kind to the man expression and she doesn’t care. joohyun feels the thrill of danger and she almost smiles as her fingers close in a fist and she pulls her arm. the girl looks at him, defiantly as he demands her things. she feels alive at last and though there is somehow a chance for her to get really hurt, she doesn’t mind. the brunette is about to apply something out of her taekwondo classes when someone beats her to it.
“what the fu--” the girl says, looking at the scene in front of her. she does nothing because everything seems plainly ridiculous. there was a boy fighting the man and she doesn’t know if he wants to show off or be the one to rob her. it’s just when the man runs away and the boy is on the sidewalk with an ugly bruise that she moves again. “what the hell, what did you do that?” joohyun says, eyebrows knitted together while she gives out her hand. “shit, that must hurt” she points to his bruise.
