Sadie and Donna found themselves more than pleasantly buzzed at a boring social party. Sadie had convinced Donna to be her plus one to the event seeing as it was the Parker’s way of introducing Sadie to “the handsome son of our neighbor”

Sadie was home from college for the summer and her parents were relentless about her lack of a beau. Little did they know, Sadie had other plans for her love life. Plans which had little to do with a man at all. 

Sadie Parker had never been one to conform to social norms, she had always been a bit strange. She was perfectly happy being strange all on her own until she met her best friend, Donna Donner, who happened to be a vampire. 

Truth was, Sadie and Donna had become thick as thieves in their first year at Vassar. They spent all of their time together, despite the less than pleasant rumors around campus.

Sadie and Donna were currently stowed away in a corner, whispering drunken secrets and trying to avoid detection. They passed the flask of gin back and forth and commentated on the rich,socialites in attendance.

“My parents would be livid if they knew,” Sadie grinned.

“If they knew what?” Donna asked.

“That you and I…were…” Sadie paused. She realized that she and Donna had never actually defined their relationship. They were agreeably more than friends but neither had been brave enough to advance their title to dating. Sadie shrugged, “Never mind.”

Before Donna could ask what Sadie was implying, Sadie’s eyes went wide. Donna looked across the room to see what her friend was looking at. Her gaze landed on none other than Bobo Brubaker. He and Sadie had gone on a date once but Sadie had ended it early when Bobo tried to get fresh with her. 

He saw the two women and started to cross the room with a sleazy smile on his face. 

“Kiss me, quick!” Donna whispered, as she turned to meet Sadie’s eyes.

Sadie didn’t have to be asked twice. She leaned in and pressed her lips to Donna’s. Sadie’s eyes fluttered shut as she relaxed into the kiss. It only lasted for a few seconds but time seemed to have stopped between them. 

When Sadie pulled away, she could feel the blush on her cheeks. 

“Wow,” she exhaled. 

Sadie looked up to find Bobo retreating in the other direction. The plan had worked. She squeezed Donna’s hand, “Donna love, do you want to get out of here?”

At a loss for words, Donna simply nodded. They snuck away to Sadie’s room upstairs and shut the door quietly behind them before both bursting into laughter.

“You actually kissed me!” Donna giggled. “I never thought that would work!”

“Donna Donner! Did you…did you thrall me?” Sadie asked with a huff.

Donna grinned, running her tongue over her fangs. “I could have done much worse…”

“No one is stopping you,” Sadie replied as she closed the distance between them. “But you know, you’re not the only one who is charming.”

Donna knew it was true, she could never resist Sadie Parker. She fleetingly thought of a rebuttal but instead she simply pulled Sadie close and kissed her again.

Watching Sadie grow old while Donna stays young and vibrant.

Consoling Frank after he’s lost his soul mate.

Watching her best friend’s husband drink himself into (even more of) a stupor.

Having to say goodbye to Frank too.

Then to Dave.

Eventually to Michelle.

Don’t imagine Donna Henderson, immortal and alone after everyone she loved is gone.
