He heard her footsteps on the grating and quickly tightened the last bolt on the panel he’d been working on. He pocketed the sonic and looked up just as Rose’s footsteps came to a halt next to him.
The first thing he saw was her feet, clad in era-appropriate shoes and a pair of patterned tights. He dragged his gaze up over the dark pink skirt to the sparkling black corset and the little cape she’d topped the outfit off with. She’d swept up her hair in some sort of updo and added a little feather to it.
“Blimey,” he said, unable to take his eyes off of her. She was glowing, radiant, gorgeous. He’d seen stars being born and it was nothing compared to Rose in this moment - dressed to the nines and lit by the glow of the TARDIS.
“You look beautiful,” he said. He could hear the reverence in his own voice and panicked, tearing his eyes away from Rose. “Considering.”
He smiled as he ducked his head, hoping that she caught the joke, that she wasn’t offended. He wanted to hide how enraptured by her he was, not offend her.
