Read: Psalm 37:8-9 " Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land."
Anger has taken control of me on more occasions than I can count. It has always been so easy for me to hold a grudge. I would always hold things in from those I cared for the most. As a result, resentment would begin building & then it would seem as though I was angry at them for no good reason. Probably because it's true; there is absolutely no good reason to be angry.
Whenever I am angry for a long period of time, I notice a particular pattern. For the past couple of weeks, I have felt resentment towards my immediate family. I have tried to distance myself from them as much as possible without saying why I felt the way I did. I would also start to build their perception of me in my head. The sad thing is that this probably stemmed from my younger brother throwing my clothes out of the washer just so he could wash his basketball jersey, or something as petty as that.
The point of telling you this story is to show you how powerful anger is. It's powerful because it warps our perception of those who hurt us, even if they didn't mean to. Anger can cause you to say or do things you know you'll regret. The next time you start to feel angry, come before God & let him know how you feel. Be as honest with Him as possible; don't hold anything back. God will bring you to your pure senses.
