[ That Works, Too ] - Do-Not-Test
Chell had proven herself a genius time and time again. With a photographic memory and outstanding problem-solving skills, she continuously outsmarted supercomputers. Her logic outweighed that of even the most refined AI.
Yet even she was prone to moments of “What’s this button do?”
That button, it turns out, opens a portal. In thin air. Chell leapt back, braced herself for a fight that didn’t come. Curiosity overtook her again and she stalked around the thing, waved her hand across the back. What was it attached to?
Only after that did she check what it lead to. Some scrawny human fellow in Aperture, it looked like. Well, she’ll just have to get him out of there, won’t sh--
Chell froze at the sight of the mural, a silent gasp escaping her lungs. This was him. She stuck her arms through and dragged him out before he had a chance to get away, squeezed him tight and buried her face in his chest.
It was nighttime. She had long since changed out of her test subject uniform but retained her Long Fall boots and the bandage on her right wrist. They were in the corner of park, only trees and a brick wall visible from where she held him.
