sao is a vr mmorg (virtual reality massively multiplayer online roleplay game) (if i remember the specific description lol) and its an anime about a vr game of the same name. I could make a whole other post about how weird the anime gets, but the basic first arc is perfect for this au.
The anime starts as a bunch of players get trapped inside the game by the creator on day one of the game's release. If they die in the game, they die in real life. There are 100 levels in this game, and the only way to free everyone is to beat the game.
The first arc in the anime is getting out of the game, and like i said it goes off on other plots that aren't relevant here, so when i think of this au, I think of it taking place for the entirety of the "get out of sao" plotline, and nothing much else.
If anyone is interested, I'll reblog this with some vague dsmp specific plot/characters. Feel free to reblog this and tell me if anyone writes anything similar or something. This might be something only im interested in, but that's my target audience anyway lol.
I need an dsmp animation set to I See Fire by Ed Sheeran. That song made for the Hobbit movie? Like, it gives me L'Manburg vibes cause i can imagine both campfires in the first war for it's freedom (Wilbur singing to keep moral or sm) AND Nov 16 and Doomsday vibes it's such a good song.
just, google the lyrics or something. I've seen animatoins that use songs that connect less (not a dis, since most work very well) but this connects SO WELL in my mind.
