It was a rainy afternoon which was strange. Rain? Here? Bucky couldn’t remember the last time it rained in Wakanda. Wait. . . was this a dream again? Grunting, Bucky pushed himself up from the mat he was attempting to meditate on and made his way out of the tent. Rain drops pelted into the lake, almost like those hail storms they used to have in the winters of the ’20’s back in Brooklyn. “Ow,” he mumbled, glancing up to the rainy sky before turning back toward the tent to head inside- but it was gone. Instead there he was, standing in the forest. . . the same forest where it happened. All of a sudden, his stomach turned - something wasn’t right. Deja vu swarmed through every fiber of his body, a sickening feeling engulfing him, suffocating him. No. Not now. Steve? Lifting his arm, Bucky watched as it started to turn to dust. Again.
With a gasp for air, Bucky jolted upright from the spot on the floor he so happened to fall asleep on; the makeshift bed, his flesh fingers gripping at the blanket underneath him. Sweat drenched his brow and his short hair as he noticed the soccer game illuminating from the tv within the darkness of the living room. For a brief second, he closed his eyes and focused on his breathing. Another nightmare, if only he could get used to them. Tossing the covers away, Bucky scrambled to his tired feet and shuffled toward the bathroom. A shower would help. And then maybe a run. It had to be close to some time in the morning.
He’d check his phone in a bit. Not that it mattered, he didn’t talk to anyone on it anyway.
But, his therapist suggested it was good to have one, so, he had one.
What the hell did she know?
After his quick shower to wash away any lingering nightmares, Bucky pulled on a pair of sweats and a teeshirt. He also grabbed a hoodie and his gloves just to cover up his arm in case he scared some people along his path.
No one here in Brooklyn needed to know who or what he was.
Without even looking, Buck slipped his phone and the keys into his pocket and scrambled to get his sneakers on before making his way out of the apartment.

By the time the former Winter Soldier completed his run, it was well onto 7am, and hell, he was starving. Stopping at the nearest diner, Bucky ordered himself a coffee, nothing too expensive and paid for it with whatever change he found in his pocket before snatching a seat by the window.
