Wells didn’t question the file when it landed in his inbox.
No dramatic subject line. No hype. Just:
TRAINING_LOOP_v3.mp4 RUN BEFORE LIFTING
Classic coach move.
He queued it up in the corner of the gym, laptop balanced on a bench, screen angled just enough to catch his eye between sets. The video was stripped down on purpose—no effects, no music. Just his bodybuilding coach standing square to the camera, posture solid, voice calm.
“Alright,” the coach said evenly. “You’ve already done the thinking.”
Wells slid his gold headphones on and rolled his neck once, slow.
Good.
The audio faded in first, steady, rhythmic and hypnotic, almost boring in the best way.
“Set your stance.” “Breathe.” “Grip.”
The coach paused, just long enough to land it.
“Don’t think. Just do.”
Wells exhaled through his nose and smiled.
Yeah. That’s the switch.
The phrase hit like a reset, not a push. The noise dropped out. No second-guessing. No commentary. Just movement lining up on its own.
He stepped to the bar. Feet planted exactly where they always landed when things felt right. Hands wrapped the knurling without adjustment. Core locked in before he consciously asked it to.
Didn’t even have to tell myself, he noticed. Body already knows.
The video looped as he loaded plates.
Same calm voice. Same tempo. Same hypnotic rhythm.
“You don’t need to analyze right now.” “You already earned that part.” “Don’t think. Just do.”
The first rep moved clean. The second smoother. By the third, his mind had gone quiet in that heavy, settled way he liked, the kind that made the weight feel honest instead of intimidating.
The coach’s voice stayed steady in his ears, never louder, never urgent.
“Strong body.” “Simple focus.” “Again.”
Wells grinned through the effort.
Funny thing is, he thought, the moment I stop trying to be smart… I get bigger.
Each set flowed into the next. The phrase echoed—not as an order, but a reminder.
Don’t think. Just do.
No hype. No rush. Just execution stacking on execution.
By the time he finished, sweat running down his chest, muscles full and tight, the video clicked back to the beginning one last time.
“You’re done thinking,” the coach said calmly. “Now let the work stick.”
Wells pulled the headphones off and reached for his towel, breathing slow, controlled.
“Trust me,” he muttered, catching his reflection, fuller, thicker, calmer than before. “It always does.”
He shut the laptop, already feeling the weight settle into his frame.
Don’t think, he thought, heading for the next session. Just do.
And that was exactly how he got bigger.
