Tues - Yes! Precure 5 GoGo! - Ep 16 - 18
EP 16
The portal the scene before is on the verge of closing, the portal the scene after just conveniently triples in size again. I was going to be annoyed that they were doing this again but I'm guessing this is simply Shibiretta's ability... seriously, where was this character in Smile? A villain like this would have made so much sense!
Egads, that is the most depressing and underwhelming candy house I have ever seen... there's nothing fantastical about it and you're saying that would have attracted Hansel and Gretel?
The problem you have here is, that you set up a villain with actual brain cells and good schemes who is simply going to get ruined via Precure plot armor of not being allowed to lose.
The dishonesty! Using the sweet treats in the place of breadcrumbs was clever of them, although I'm surprised Nozomi didn't eat half of them if she was that hungry. And does it not matter which Curemos goes to who? How could she tell which was Karen's and which was Komachi's? They all look identical?
Egads! It's a nod to the first series, there are very few of those so far.
Why does Urara look so sad about this? However, it does take some effort to ignore the glaring flaw of a time scale issue with this one. There is literally no way for it to work or make sense. This was a fair Karen and Komachi ep but there in lies the problem also... these two can't seem to do anything separate in the story and this barely builds on anything you already knew of the pair.
(Queen Bavarois.... one ep, one ep and I've had enough of her already, I hope she isn't around for too long or this isn't a think in every ep for the foreseeable future -.-")
EP 17
It's another, feels like a random real life cameo ep but no idea who they are. They also tend to be drawn slightly different to the rest of the show. (I could be wrong though ???)
Idol Urara and Detective Komachi make a return (they reference it but this is the first sign in a while of Urara actually being an idol.)
Egads did this ep get cringey fast... and yet they turn it around at the end so well yet again.
However, this is the first casual civilian observed transformation, please keep it a secret moment we've had in a while.
Now that's an interesting lesson of the day.
With a equally unique way to end it o.O... but not the first time though, although I believe that was Smile again though (seriously, these two series just can't get far enough away from each other. and here people are complaining about Futari Wa and Splash Star.)
EP 18
As irony would have it, the very next ep is about Urara and her idol work again!
Out of context this scene plays out like some awkward love confession or break up scene. Still, it was a nice moment between the two, who were oddly super honest with each other for no reason.
We haven't even seen him in a while but Nebatakos is actually being quite effective this week, its an unnerving strategy, especially solo and they've portrayed it well.
They generally don't do a lot with Urara but this fight scene is really good! Heck, she's even soloing a general boss figure. (I doubt Urara will ever be this action heavy again though.)
I know I usually say that I don't get why she's a Precure but I'll let it slide on this occasion because even in Yes! Urara never got a moment quite as cool as this, that showed her perfectly capable of standing on her own two feet despite being the youngest.
Is it a culture thing or is Urara already that big of a deal because if it is the later, the show is doing a terrible job of portraying it. (At least this one can sing though.)
I swear this whole ep was just setting up Syrup x Urara and darn is it so wholesome. Despite being so different on the surface and are both tackling different things, it highlighted how similar they both actually are. (well this ep especially anyway!)
⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ I'm going to do it, from this single ep focus of interactions, Syrup/Urara have my support! (Syrup doesn't look like it but does he fall into the same trap as Coco and Nuts though? Just how old is our dimensional postal birdie?)
