I've noticed a uptick in the number of white people I follow reblogging or attempting to "weigh in" on intraracial issues like

and it's also not a coincidence that most of these posts that are getting reblogged are posts that agree with the "normal" white consensus aka colorblindness or progression towards that point

because of course white people would think raven symone calling herself an american and distancing herself from her people is a good thing. i mean why wouldn't they? any attempt at assimilation is applauded

of course they'd reblog a uncle ruckus lookin dude blaming the black community for racism on vine and youtube, like we're in charge of the reins that ultimately control those platforms, like we're the ones at fault for white people laughing at us for all the wrong reasons and believing that simply "not coonin around" would end all racism on those platforms, putting the onus on us for change instead of the racist fucks who make them popular in the first place

of course they'd think the "fuckboy is a transphobic slur" is a simple funny mishap and not indicative of what happens when aave is taken out of contexts and given new ones with complete disregard for it's originators, and of course they'd be completely downright refusing to self reflect on why this keeps happening to aave words, why our words and phrases are continually misdefined as evil and crude and cruel and coincidentally, given more power than they had with us.

i just wish i could figure out why it makes me so uncomfortable in the first place

It makes me extremely uncomfortable that you felt you had to preface the "this isn't okay" by somehow shoehorning in how much you dislike Anita by bringing up things that have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a woman who talks about video games was just threatened with literal terrorism.

And that's not a direct hit at you, just an observation.
