Ravin’ All Night Once upon a midnight dreary Edgar Allan Poe was weary Slurring speech with eyes so bleary And his mood was less than cheery And though drunk Poe felt quite cruddy He set to work in his study Fatigue making clear thoughts muddy Whence appeared a strange new buddy Ebon bird, a surly raven In Poe’s study made its haven Poor old Poe fell blanched and craven Like a man caught in a cave-in How it got in he did not know The door was shut and no window But there it was saying “‘sup bro?” Poe knew for sure it had to go “‘Sup bro?” Raven quoth in the gloom “‘Sup bro?” Angry Poe grabbed a broom “‘Sup bro?” The Raven feared no doom “‘Sup bro?” They chased around the room Broom swinging wildly in the dark Poor Edgar could not hit the mark The Raven dodged with ease and snark “‘Sup bro?” The Raven’s jeering bark Boom! The broom made contact one time Not with the bird, the Raven’s fine A busted bust now that’s a crime “‘Sup bro?” The Raven quoth its line “Oh prudent Pallas!” Poe exclaimed “Darn you Raven! I must be blamed” “My ire broke it but now that’s tamed” “‘Sup bro?” Quoth Raven unashamed “From my Lenore this was a gift” “Breaking that bust has sealed our rift” “I fear my soul will never lift” “‘Sup bro?” The bird was not too swift “‘What’s up you ask? I’ve lost Lenore!” “Things were rocky, that was before” “Now this?!
