i've finished Doom Coalition! here are some of my thoughts:

Doom Coalition 1: very strong start! the first two stories were great, the main villain (the Eleven) was fascinating, and i liked the introduction of Helen as a new companion travelling with Liv and the Doctor. unfortunately the other two stories aren't as remarkable and they wasted the Eleven's potential.

Doom Coalition 2: pretty good second series. the introduction of Caleera/the Sonomancer was cool, and adding River Song to this series was a fun decision, i think she fitted in well.

Doom Coalition 3: as if two main villains weren't enough, this third series introduced two more. the first story (Absent Friends) was phenomenal. the rest were pretty good, although i'm not the biggest fan of macguffin plots. this third series was more of a build up for the last series, which is fine, but at times it felt like it was going in circles. the cliffhanger was insane, though.

Doom Coalition 4: the first story (Ship in a Bottle) was brilliant; it was a great continuation of the cliffhanger from s3. the rest of the series was pretty good, even if it didn't do anything too new. in a way it felt like another Rassilon plot to protect/save/empower Gallifrey while destroying the rest of the universe, only this time it didn't involve Rassilon, but the main villain was very Rassilon-adjacent (i won't mention their name because it's a plot twist and a big spoiler). there was so much going on in this series. i've already forgotten half of the names of the Time Lords that showed up because there were so many of them. also i was a bit sad that the Red Lady didn't remain a mystery. apart from that, this final series was good! not perfect, and it tried to do too many things, but it was good.

final thoughts: good series! i think i liked it a little bit more than Dark Eyes. i love the TARDIS team formed by the Eighth Doctor, Liv and Helen (they all get some good development throughout the series and they're definitely my favourite part of it). i enjoyed River's involvement in the series. i like the Eleven, but at times he felt very underutilised. the rest of villains were cool, especially Caleera/the Sonomancer. there were two more villains involved that i haven't even mentioned, but they only appeared in one audio story and they felt more like cameos. again, i feel Doom Coalition tried to do too many things, especially towards the end, but everything connected pretty nicely and i enjoyed it overall!

spoiler of Doom Coalition 3: Absent Friends under the cut (i need to share this thought)

i don't know if it's ever revealed who calls the Doctor at the end of this story (it might be revealed in the very next story, but i haven't listened to it yet), but i'm just going to assume that he got a call from Lucie Miller because the thought of it breaks my heart into pieces and i love it

adding the Red Lady from the Eighth Doctor audio story 'The Red Lady' to my list of unexplained creatures from Doctor Who that i find absolutely terrifying

Well finished Doom Coalition barring the last Behind the Scenes. Maybe 1-2 weeks to get through all of it? I definitely binged 2, 3 and 4 over the last 7 days.

9/10.

The Eleven is now my second favourite Timelord after Narvin (not including the Doctor and the Master) and I already loved the Nine.
