“Of course it did…”
His voice sounded strained as he spoke, hoarse and a little shaky. At first, Serph had imagined his resolve unwavering in the face of this new and strange world he’d found himself in. Not unlike the Junkyard, filled with violent creatures he’d assumed were Atma, ruins of a civilization he couldn't have known. But then, this person had found him. A boy who had been wrapped in vibrant light of shining blue, of elegant locks and wielding weaponry Serph could not have imagined until he’d witnessed it.
Soon, he’d been guided into a glowing portal to another world, a rift made of shimmering glyphs and quantum possibilities. Finding himself in a very alive, bustling city filled with non-combatants left Serph reeling, utterly bewildered. The boy, once fused with another being to become something godlike - their definitions appeared to differ - at once transformed into someone altogether ordinary. But that hadn’t been the half of it.
This place, this new world crafted of lies built atop a ruined one, made his skin feel nervous. The bustle of humanity bothered him. He was grateful when his new companion, Chihiro, led him to someplace quieter. He called it a ‘shrine’. Serph didn’t understand, but it was a calming respite. There, he told him of this world. They spoke of his own, and the Embryon Leader realized something was very wrong. This wasn’t the Nirvana they were promised, not the familiar Junkyard his mind clung to.
That all seemed to be gone. “That place was all I’ve ever known.” And Serph felt incredibly alone in a sea of uncertainty.
