there's this annoying tweet going around on twitter dunking on "cringe Tumblr Prose" i.e. overly flowery or trying-too-hard-to-sound-literary posts and whatnot and god it's sparked such a miserable conversation because all im thinking while going through people pointing and laughing at all these posts and pieces of writing is. lord, yall dont know how to have fun or be genuine. i'd rather read a thousand cringe but earnest pieces of writing than read constantly irreverent uber-ironic pieces done out of fear of the social media panopticon of shame. like so what if it's goofy and pretentious-sounding at times. it's fun. do you guys remember when you did things for fun?
i know i kept saying that once the anime was out i wanted everybody to sexualize qifrey to hell and back, just slut him up to the greatest degree but
i had no idea it would start with the STUDIO THEMSELVES AS THEY WERE ANIMATING HIM
they made qifrey look so good they were animating with carnal desire running through their veins
im sure people much smarter and more perceptive than me definitely have more substantial observations and opinions about marriagetoxin's first ep but one thing i do wanna say is that i love how every frame of kinosaki has him animated as the Most Beautiful Human Alive meanwhile gero is just like. A Guy. sure hes badass in the action scenes but aside from that hes just animated as. A Guy. A Dude. Regular Looking To The Nth Degree. absolutely nailed it, no notes.

very good take on twitter but i say we push this further
all [genre] writers should read outside of their chosen genre. fictionists should read poetry and nonfiction. essayists should read poetry and fiction. poets should read fiction and nonfiction.
this ultimately unlocks different techniques that are not "usually" used in your chosen genre but can definitely be employed in it. it makes you a more well-rounded writer with a larger arsenal of tools and tricks.
part of why my fiction (fanfic included) has a lot of pieces that are so heavy on internality is because i specialized in nonfiction in college. the walking through the thought process, the chewing on concepts, the weight and heft of emotion, those came from nonfiction and i apply them in my fiction. part of why my poetry (back when i wrote poetry) is so narrative is because i read and wrote a lot of fiction, employing the story alongside the images helped me.
everybody always says every writer has to be a reader, and that is #sotrue, but you also have to be intentional with what you read. venture outside the borders of what youre used to. expand your horizons.
my 57 year old mom is like, aggressively woke. shes a political science professor who specializes in gender politics so like even if i didnt exist she'd still be wokeatron 3000. but it's funny remembering when i came out as trans to her because she literally cheered and went "I HAVE A TRANS SON! <3" in a very supportive and joyous manner but there was also a smidge of something like, oh my god i caught a shiny pokemon i got one in her tone. she was so stoked. she mightve been more stoked than i was. happy pride. love u mother.
i think i might have to explain to my mother what a furry is though because shes gonna see me leaving the house in doggy ears and a collar. will keep you guys updated on how That goes
