DF0085 - Screamin' & Cryin' - Mary Jane Next Door by DOPE FOLKS RECORDS Unreleased Hiphop Straight Out of Greensboro, North Carolina ! More Info Soon....... Screamin’ & Cryin’ consisted of Jon Carter (Matisse), DJ, Turntablist and Producer, and David Ellis (Skwerm), MC/Rapper and Lyricist. “Two Tears In A Bucket” was produced in 1992 in Greensboro and Raleigh, NC, and culminated in Sanford, NC at Beechtree Recording Studios. Beechtree Studios is notable as it was the studio in which the Black Sheep recorded their first record “Live Wire” - now a hard-to-find collectable - under the group name ICM on Nouveau Records. Screamin’ & Cryin’ is originally from Carthage and Cameron, NC, two small towns in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. At the time of this recording, Jon lived in Greensboro, NC and David lived in NYC. They released their first record in 1988 on Popular Records under the name “Faze Too.” It was entitled “Romancin’ The Microphone” with the B-Side “That’s Word.” Copies of this collectable record still sell for around 40.00 on the internet. “Two Tears In A Bucket” from Screamin’ & Cryin’ was never shopped to record labels. The group dismantled after this production in order to pursue their individual paths in life, so the album was shelved... until 2017 when Dope Folks Records came along. The Custom Song for Wax Master Torey (RIP) was produced to air on The Wax Master Torey Music Showcase back in the day, as Jon and David were regulars on that late night mix show on WKNC FM, Raleigh. Jon Carter is now an International Voice Over Talent operating out of his studios in Charlotte, NC. David Ellis is a successful artist known for his digital time-lapse motion paintings, kinetic installations and hip-hop/street influenced paintings. For Jon: www.joncarter.com For David: www.david-ellis.org Other notable Rap Artists from NC during this era: Black Sheep, Yaggfu Front, Wax Master Torey & DJ Soundmachine, Tim Greene, Dow Jonez, Bizzie Boyz (Fanatic, Ski Beatz, Mixmasta “D” aka Dana Lucci), Supreme DJ Nyborn, N-Tyce.
