Somewhere in the desert.......
Went to church over the weekend. Got re-baptised, reborn, renewed, all that jazz.
Or no jazz suprisingly but it's cool when every other place you look music is happening.
Somebody brilliant took a look at the desert out there in indio and had a Kevin Costner moment. They built it. We came.
In droves, all of us young, old, hipster, hippe, rich, broke, hearts, minds, bodies and souls.
We came to be surrounded by whatever it is that touched us. We came to be surrounded by eachother. And the music.
Camping out in the middle of nowhere. Over prepared and under prepared at the same time.
Security was overhyped as long as you were smart or creative (shrooms in the nutter butters, green in the sleeping bags). Everybody had everything. Some girl got caught bogus though, told me she brought she had a Wonka Factory worth of stuff and lost it all. The chances you take when you trying to party.
So many beautiful desert hippie girls passing joints I thought I died. Woke up in heaven. Minus the heat that's probably exactly when my version would look like.
I saw so many but I'll mention my favorites
A$AP Rocky: Fresh shit, brought out Master P to do "Miss my homies" for Trayvon Martin. Just seeing that made my day.
Frank Ocean: The truth. Him & The Weekend.
David Guetta: Tent felt like Zion. It was the end of the world and David was our DJ out there on the ledge
Dre & Snoop: I got put on to At the drive in while I was waiting for them, very dope band who put on a very good show. As soon as it was over, the vacuum started. Some people tried to escape, some of them made it. All of us fighting for the front. Some girl passed out and had to be crowd surfed out. I got caught in the wave and made it out on the other side. 5 people from the front, tripping balls off life, love and other drugs, I saw Dre, Snoop, 50, Em, Kendrick, Wiz and 2Pac preach to the congregation.
One of the more inspiring moments of my life? Definitely.
Epic. Awesome. All that jazz.
So that's how that went....
