so I’ve got this IDW TF MTMTE/LL divergent AU type of thing that started out primarily as just a ‘Dominus Lives’ AU but alongside it I’ve plotted out ideas for how the way he survives (in that CD never actually gets to injecting him at all) affects Rodimus afterwards, how it changes the way the CDRW arc works (note that the AU would have CDRWDA in the future, but of course not right off the bat.), how it shifts even Ratchet’s stuff (and also gives space for Ratchet’s story to actually address all of the shit from earlier in the comic that just??? never does get to be addressed???? specifically his internalized functionism).
But the most fun bit is that I can just add Whatever Else I Would Want to it.
Because I HAVE a whole idea for how it would work, if only Drift had told Rodimus that this was all a bad idea and CD had been told to wait just a little longer, if Ratchet had been the one called by Rewind to tell him to stabilize the ‘random turbofox’ and that it was ‘urgent nothing happens to him’.
Also, it would give a moment for Minimus to actually show his alt-mode, while everyone else is in shock and unable to explain what was even happening.
As important narratively as Rewind’s ‘choice’ was esp for CDRW at the time, I do truly think it’s possible to write a different outcome that doesn’t undermine CD’s struggles.
Rewind just wanted them BOTH to be there with him. The loves of his life. He wanted them all to be able to live beyond everything that had happened to them.
Anyhow, I’ll try to come up with some ideas and maybe post some here when I get the chance and gather my thoughts :D
