Goths online: Goth is a political movement all about underconsumption and sustainability. It's all about thrifting and DIY. If you ever buy anything from H&M you're a poser. You gotta get everything second-hand, make your own clothes, churn your own butter while you're at it.

In my opinion, the line between goth and synthpop is Blue Monday by New Order. More goth than Blue Monday is definitely goth, more pop than Blue Monday is definitely synthpop.

I am fascinated by the idea that there is such a thing as a "beginner" punk/goth/emo. The implication is that liking a music genre and the aesthetic associated with it is a skill that requires practice.

Which is true to some extent btw, but it's still interesting to think about

While I do find the trend of posting about those magical creatures called "goth gfs" mildly annoying, I will say that I do tend to select partners based on their music taste, so tbh I kinda get it.
